This is not my poll but I did vote in it early. At 20 votes it was 60% liked/loved it. As the voting has increased 10 fold the results have only changed by 2.3%.

At some point, well before the reveal, it became quite fashionable to hate on the new grilles. Everyone was tripping over their own d*cks to make the witty grille joke. It was and is pretty sad to me.
That's because all the ones that don't like it got banned...

Wouldn't that impact fuel efficiency and make it even less affordable for most EU countries with the emissions taxes? Hey, I love Porsches. If I didn't have a 2 year old and a drum set I might actually buy a GT3.

I love the M3 for everything it is. I personally have never been a fan of the 911's styling until you get to the GT level, but that's just me.

frankie, if you like the angry beaver design, GREAT! I'm happy for you. You need do nothing further.

For others, an aftermarket front grill might be just the ticket, allowing them to drive a car that looks attractive to them, and is still a BMW!

My specific issue is the gentleman's assertion that we would all be tripping over our own d*cks to buy this aftermarket bumper and we would be unable to withstand the temptation to do so. Like it's not possible to actually like the new design lol.

I agree with everything you said it it's entirety.

So buys new M3/4 pays someone another $5k to make it look like the old M3/4. Makes sense.

Exactly. Why I keep making a point about how people don't like change. I can agree with the above comment about aftermarket and changing etc being common, but this is being made to make the new model look like every other BMW you can buy right now?

The ones with a black grille surround are nice enough. I think the front on the red car is the best iteration though. Basically an 8-series front.

I found a much better option...a Porsche 718 GTS 4.0

6 cylinder, manual transmission! I’ve been looking for an alternative to the M4.

That big grill is "fake" and is only part of the front bumper facia cosmetic design. If you look inside the grill, you'll see that the bumper structure is still very present and obstructs ~30% of the grill area. The bumper structure is essential fro crash worthiness certification.

So it is theoretically possible to make an aftermarket bumper cover that uses a body coloured panel to cover the structural bumper element. This would visually split the front and bottom grill elements without affecting airflow.
Really? I didn't notice that. Can you send a best picture possible to see that? I'm very curious. I believe aftermarket is the only thing that can save this cars.

Every rough design looks better than factory and car hasn't even been seen in the flesh by most people.

I'm not one to heavily mod a vehicle, so any new bumper would be a pass. It just seems too big of a part to swap out and not be OEM, it would feel like I am driving something different than what was intended, a lip or small modification I can understand. What happens to the crash sensors, the airbag response etc when swapping this out?

If it were a company affiliated with BMW in some way like Alpina and it was installed by them, I would consider it, but after seeing the car in person the grill is no longer an issue for me.

Exactly, it looks great but ain't no way I'm swapping the original bumper, regardless of how it looks; I'm a OEM snob..

I would be down for a Alpina front end but I don't believe they do M models.. 🤷🏻

This blows the current design out of the water by a mile. When I see it I don't cringe. I love it at first sight which is the way it should be. I don't get that with the current abomination.
If BMW made this design (Prior Design Option 5) as the G80 originally, I would be excited about the car. Also, if they made the LCI look less extreme like this I would be excited to buy that LCI. However, I would not be one to stray from the OEM design of the car to be one of the few alone out there in the wild (aftermarket).

I'm one of those people. All my cars have been far from stock. This was the only way I was buying into a G80 and I'm actually super excited that the aftermarket is taking off sprinting with it. I can't wait to see what other companies come up with
