If Bmw would offer the front wheels with 150 hp electric motor combined with the Rear Drivetrain that would be the ultimate in performance. Don't need much batteries as the front would only be for quick temporary uses.
I'm eagerly/foolishly awaiting an M Coupe variant of the current Z4 for track use, which I think looks killer, however the M40i (and the entire M Performance lineup quite honestly) is still primarily a street car and it doesn't come in a manual nor dual clutch. I took a spirited drive in a M840i and I loved the experience, but it was far from what I would call a nimble sports car and it didn't feel nearly as connected as my M3 CS. The Z4, on the other hand, is the perfect size despite being down on torque and power, but I've been wanting to take one out. It will not be as fast around the track, but for street car it would make a nice daily.

Yes an M z4 would be really something. I don"t track, but the new Z4 is fast and handles well. Much better than the previous version E89 . I prefer the new transmission. I didn't like the DCT. Yes they shift fast, but not fun. Let me explain. Your stuck in traffic and want to fishtale a u-turn or you want to really smoke the tires for fun. Not really possible with launch control. I know its silly but thats the kid in me!

The power has exceeded the traction limit. If you've owned a F8x, you quickly realized that they really don't do well launching from a start or accelerating from low speeds. The RWD G8x will be no different. They are actually pretty bad imho. Increasing the horsepower won't change this. You need new tires and near perfect conditions to get a decent start. This is why I'm excited about the AWD version. You'll finally get to use the power you paid for on a daily basis around town and not be worried about the an RS3 pulling up beside you. There will be a large gap between the 0-60 and 1/4 times between the RWD and AWD variants.

It's not too large, it's traction. These cars have too much power for the traction that's available. Just look at the M5, X3m, m340xi, m760, as case studies.

AWD comp will definitely test significantly faster than 3.8 0-60. C&D hit 3.8 in the RWD M340i. Comp is going to be painfully fast off the line. As been said, RWD will be traction limited.

here's some comparison .. C&D tested the F82 CS, Giulia QF and C63S to 60mph in 3.6-3.7s, note that their number including a 1ft roll out time of 0.3 sec so really its 4s real life basically. Don't expect the RWD G8X to be any different.

the AWD one.. i looked at Stelvio QF and GLC63S and X3M, they all clocked at 3.3-3.4 so high 3s in real life without adjusting for rollout. Take out 500lb of weight and the time should be a bit better still.... So estimating G8X AWD to be close to where they clocked F90 M5 at 3.0 sec without rollout so low low 3s in real life...

Perhaps we'll see a future G80 CSL drop 300 pounds (to the current F80) and cost 50% more to shave that extra .5s. Brilliant marketing move.

CSL is rumored to target 600hp and somewhere around 7 min flat ring time. Prepare to dig deep into the 401k...

Lol if they are thinking of duplicating the M4 GTS and M3/4 CS sales model, I'll just wait for the deep dealer discounts again.

lets inject some positivity and a bit of optimism the G8X will perform just fine

the way the x4m walked away in the roll race is quite impressive... also trapping higher speed than GLC63S in the quarter mile. Seems like either the gearing and/or better low end on the AMG resulting in better 0-60 times

Looks like the ZF in the X4M is a bit trickier to launch. Once they got a hang of it the S58 dominates. The at speed acceleration is consistently the best.

And agreed, this motor will be a beast with the G8X comps lower weight.

These roll/drag races are lame. Let's see some laps.
