What just happened to BMW? Surely can’t be because I am getting old all the sudden.

Looks like a larger Civic type R that's been modified for street racing! Clearly it's targeted for the Chinese market (no disrespect).
The only thing else that comes to mind after watching that video are swear words so I'll reserve any further comments! |

I thought I was the target audience for this? Apparently not.

The fact that a tuning company is openly considering an aero kit to town the design down a bit says a lot.
I don't mind the F&F movies, in fact I kinda like them for the easy entertainment that they offer. I just never expected that an european oem car could blend right in the next episode Last edited by MPSdriver; 11-20-2020 at 06:44 AM.. |

No clue what they are going for here. Exhaust design and decals are horrible.
This add seems to be targeted to the three people in the world that this strikes a cord with and that could afford the car. Maybe they have a secret deal with Kim Jong-un to buy a fleet of them and this is what he wanted. |

SEMA cheese 🧀 factory parts! Oh and don't forget to slap on those fuggly stickers.
Lame fast & the crap-tastic marketing. Who is running the show over there at BMW marketing and design, a 14-year-old 🎮?! 👎🏻 |

I'm not in marketing or advertising but if I were then I would assume my purpose in life was to give my brand appeal, create desire for my product and the bottom line get people to pay a price premium for my product.
Create that brand appeal so that when I want a coffee I think Starbucks and be willing to pay 5 dollars for one. When I need a new telephone I think Apple and be willing to pay $1000 dollars for a machine I can use to talk to someone. When I need to get from A to B by flying I think Delta. When I need a new car I think BMW. There are other products out there who offer the same service but I would be successful if people were willing to pay $1.20 for my product instead of $1 for my competitors. The price premium, even if my product was in fact inferior, created by my marketing team managing to convince everyone to buy my product. Create that aurora of luxury, sophistication, reliability, customer service and style. I would immediately fire my entire marketing department. WTF is this for ? |

Its funny to because I wonder if BMW thinks they are leading the way while I am here thinking they are just following Honda (Type-R), Toyota (Corolla TRD) and Lexus. But why follow those Japanese brands at all? Fucking follow Porsche if you want to follow someone.

Who is the target? For a car in this segment, shouldn't the target market be the late 20/early 30's and up mid-level professional who wants to feel excitement once in a while on a dreary commute, and barnstorm backroads or run track-days on any weekend? To me, one stand out line-item that told me that I'm no longer who they want to reach is the power trunklid. Really BMW. In a sporting sedan that's already bloated up past the 2ton mark, I guess why not - but still, that's not the ethos that kept most of us eagerly snatching up order slots. I don't want any parts of my anatomy feeling like they're on fire nowadays - that would call for penicillin. I can't shake the impression that every bit of material other than the needed 360 press-photos is really trying its balls off to hide the grille as much as is possible. I don't think BMW are proud of it either, but if it's your particular style, you do you and F the haters! Just not my bag, baby. Another nugget from my unwise mind: An associate has worked with many different manufacturers as part of interior design and NVH - he is now with one of the Koreans. He made the move prior to Hyundai/Kia poaching a good bit of the BMW M design team..... That manufacturer is now killing it, putting out aesthetically pleasing and still unique vehicles - and hitting the nail on the head with their new performance line. Ironically, the "N" Line. What comes after M? Well, a hyundai isn't in my future for a toy - but their product is now a serious option for those in the hot-hatch family, and most of my driving group actually feel the N is the best in class for driving experience. That's a company that's getting youth buyers in hand over fist. Something just hasn't felt right in Munich since they lost Albert Biermann.

Who is this control group BMW is using to decide these new looks? Like what incentives are they giving out for people to actually say "yeah that's pretty nice"? It looks like an GTRS5 Quadrifoglio

Looks a little too fast too furious for me. Especially that paint job and rear wing.
