2021 M3 Freshly Ceramic Coated at XPEL Shop

The XPEL install center in Houston, TX, sent over this photo of a BMW M3 after having its rear quarter panels wrapped in ULTIMATE PLUS ppf, and then treated the whole exterior with ceramic coating.

I’m new to the bmw M world, well trying to be but waiting in line to buy a luxury car at full price (never thought I’d say that), but I have never seen a car community so obsessed with ppf. People on here act like they are protecting a $50k paint job on a million dollar exotic. I dont get spending $2-5k every 5-10yrs to stop a few paint chips on an $80k car…but to each their own.

Too many people are over reaching for a M car and baby it with the expel/ceramic to convert to a garage queen. The leasers just get a new factory paint job every 3 years. I don't waste my time with this rubbish of paint protection.

don't think it matters how much a car costs, it's the initial investment one makes to protect it. I initially was not getting PPF but after a rock chips with keys 1k and a car I'm keeping for a while, it made sense to me. I have Dravit grey and it's a bitch to touch up so I got it. Never had PPF or ceramic coatings before so I had to educate myself on the benefits.

I know people who ppf their GTIs and WRXs, so its how much of an OCD a person has towards their vehicles. First thing which i always used to notice in my previous vehicle was a big rock chip in the hood.

G80 will be my first vehicle to which i will be installing ppf (full front). Personally it going to be worth the money as I will be keeping this vehicle for a while.

I think I’ll be covering mine with Flex Tape®, the triple-thick adhesive virtually welds itself to the surface!

Be very careful everyone. I was just " docked" 261 points for sarcasm. Sometimes I truly wonder why we wore a uniform, I understand this is not a freedom of speech on a private concern but when we have become so delicate that we can no longer have fun ( anyone who thought I was being anything other than sarcastic needs a hug) I truly wonder where we go.

Xpel does protect the car but they are an asshole company.

Their warranty isn't worth the paper it isn't written on and they engage in price fixing their dealers in Europe which is illegal.

Maybe a 10% fine on global turnover will teach them a lesson that they cannot control the price their installers have to charge.

And if you think I'm joking.. ill put you in touch with a few other companies I've had prosecuted for this..

Europe aint the states. We don't tolerate that crap.

PS. I already know how your software monitors this stuff.

In AUS a G80/G82 fully optioned is $200K, and protection is $5-7K for the entire car. A couple of % is great insurance, and I can tell you, you get it back plus more at the time of sale, as your car presents in far better condition than those without protection, thanks to the stone chips on our crap highways in AUS.

Always on my new cars.

I will be PPFing the front of my g80 when it arrives, and then having the entire thing ceramic coated. My question (since I've never done this to another car either) is….if I only have the front PPF'd (front clip, hood, front quarter panels)…..will the finish or sheen look any different from the rest of the car down the road? Like, if I only have the front PPF'd….will it look noticeably different from the rest of the car in, say 5 years?

What color is your car? I think that's the big question.

If your car is white, just know that no wrap will guarantee the color stays true, and if you have regular paint, the PPF film will literally eat all the brake dust in the front fenders. While you can prevent some of that with ceramic coating, it will always be a risk that your fender at some point will look darker than the door on white cars.

I had this on my F80 M3, and I felt like every other week I was using a PPF cleaner which needed a lot of elbow grease to make it back to new. Again, this is only a white car issue.

The XPEL PPF, ceramic coating condom crowd on this forum remind me of the essential oils and elderberry crowd on social media.

LMFAO triggered by people who choose to put film on their cars. Get out and enjoy life man, more important stuff to worry about than what others do to their cars.

You took the effort to post two very lame jokes on separate posts about people who PPF their cars. Sounds like you need to find some friends? Probably not though with your know it all pretentious attitude.
