thinking of trading my m3 for a cayman. crazy??

So I have a 22 m3 manual. Love it. Practical and I can fit all 4 of my kids in it.

My Porsche guy called me. Had a guy back out of a 24 cayman gts 4.0 manual. Loaded very nicely with the 18 way seats and gts interior package. Msrp is $110k. No markup. They offered $66k for my car (16k miles). So I’ll be paying ~$47k difference to go from my m3 to the cayman

I do have access to an extra minivan that I can use when I need to. 90% of my driving is solo… I’m very torn…

Meh. Keep the g80. Get a 911 w/an lsd.

Maybe yes if only 1 or 2 kids. Imo

Thanks. I’ve had a 2018 991.2 with the 7spd. Enjoyed it but the back seat is useless. So essentially a two seater. I’ve heard great things about the cayman, especially the 4.0 gts. I want to go and drive it but it’s a 3 hour drive

Not sure what you’re asking? But I’m on a waitlist for a 992 allocation (long list). He knows I like manual transmissions so he called me to tell me he has this car available. Was an ordered car that the person backed out of

I’m thinking about making the same switch for similar reasons, except I would be ordering one. I test drove a PDK GTS 4.0 and enjoyed it, but the car is so dated and I wasn’t a fan of the long gearing. Also there are zero curvy roads near me so I don’t think I would enjoy the Cayman handling as much as I enjoy the G8x straight line performance.

I’m doing similar. Started looking for a 4.0 CGTS but allocations are hard to come by. On list for Carrera T now. Depending on the options I would pull the trigger on that cgts if I were you.

If you don’t need a four seater, I’d say go for it. Cayman GTS 4.0 is more special than the M3, IMHO. The interior of the Cayman is dated but if you are looking for pure driving dynamics, the Cayman GTS is a solid choice. Personally, I would choose it over a base 992. Having said that, the M3 can’t be beat as a Jack of all trades.

It’s interesting because there’s no way I would choose a CGTS over a 992, base or not. The marginal improvement in driving dynamics a CGTS may/might offer doesn’t outweigh the looks, advancement, overall performance, etc. of the 992. I’m nearly 2 years into 992 Carrera S ownership and wouldn’t move down the line to a non-GT Cayman……or a GT4 for that matter.

I hope this doesn't turn into a 911 vs. Cayman GTS thread. I don't want to hijack the thread. All of this is just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. I just think the NA 4.0 mated to the Cayman makes it a great driving machine. I once owned a stage 2 tuned 991.2 GTS and I'm sure the 992 GTS is even better. I personally would not buy anything less than a 992 GTS if I decided to buy a 911 today but a Cayman GTS or a GT4...oh yeah! All just personal preference.

I'd get the GTS 4.0 all day every day if it was in my budget, that is my single favorite sports car, I like it better than any 911 and the GT4. Absolutely do it.

Paid $80k 14 months ago. I’m surprised how much it’s depreciated. I’m sure I could sell it more privately but then I lose about $4k in tax savings

Yeah that’s a low offer, I paid 108k 26 months ago if they offered me 66k I’d be pissed, they are just going to turn around and sell yours for 80k anyway.

I've driven the GT4. terrific car, but different animal. M3 is a much better daily, and it's not just the extra seats. choice depends on how you'll use the car.

The plot thickens. Went to the local Porsche dealership to test drive a boxter gts manual they had. Honestly wasn’t impressed. Feels slow off the line and then you have to rev it (sound amazing) but then you get into the whole tall gearing issue.

Next door was a Cadillac dealership. Walked in and they have a ct5 blackwing with a manual. Matte black (black noir). Msrp is $110k. They were asking $190k lol. After a few mins they agreed to a $15k markup. Told them I’m gonna sleep on it. Wouldn’t let me drive it without agreeing to numbers (makes sense). They offered me $68k on my m3… decisions decisions
