Beautiful…but two things missing:
1) third pedal
2) the Navi screen - in todays world, it is a must to go grocery shopping for me (traffic)

Those simple gauges are great. If I could change the interior of my G82, it'd be to have those exact gauges with the BMW orange lume. I'd keep everything else the same as in the ID7, but I want analogue gauges.

Hey OP, still feeling the same way about the 5BW? I’m in a C63S sedan now looking to get back into a manual transmission sports sedan and trying to decide between the G80 and 5BW thanks.

My G8x ownership was enjoyable, but the pieces that annoyed me were the gimicky “make you feel good about your purchase stuff”. Compared to my E90 M3, the G80 was littered with superficial marketing trinkets that added zero value to the “driving” experience. Reason why I grew tired of the car quickly, masking that with $25k+ in aftermarket parts.

The 5BW on the other hand, is not trying to be anything it’s not. GM says: here’s an outstanding chassis, we stuffed a ridiculously good motor in it, kept it RWD, gave it six speeds. YOLO.

That’s the point here and why it feels so unbelievably special every single day. It’s an extremely raw machine, no gimicky marketing crap. As for being a driver oriented car, they nailed this part. Interior is minimalist and focused.

Still remember the 6 speed MT in my c5 corvette, and that was 25 years ago. Good purchase and congrats. Enjoy the car!

Absolutely. The engine/transmission combo honestly never gets old. Really, I cannot praise this setup enough. The car always sounds incredible.. however, full song and rowing gears, it’s the highlight of the car. I’m blessed to live on some long country roads, so I get the opportunity to open her up daily. Nearly one year and 9k miles in.

I’ve entered the phase of being nit picky, comparing things to my last 2x M3s… now that the honeymoon phase is over.

-I’ve become somewhat bored with the exterior design. The G80 just always looked great at every angle. While the 5BW looks killer, it only does so in a few angles (mainly the rear with those big 305 tires), I guess that’s the point of a sleeper?

-Headlights. While they do a fine job, they’re boring. The DRLs look incredible, but the lights are traditional housings with LED bulbs, kinda weird. Really miss the G80 lasers.

-Power. It’s bonkers, especially in a RWD manual configuration. It’s a lot of work to really push this thing. Rewarding though.

-Paint. As you’d expect with GM, not great. I’m a DIY’er in PPF and paint correction. The paint is thin and seems to chip much easier than the BMW paint.

-Interior. This seems to be a hit or miss. The infotainment is definitely faster and easier to use than the iD7. The sport bucket seats are incredible, but the leather is meh (not German). The layout is spot on, but design isn’t amazing. The carbon bits and suede package really make the interior much better though.

Could this be a forever car? Yes. Not sure if it will though. I’m sure if I let go of it, I’ll be kicking myself 10 years down the road for getting rid of a manual 5BW. I’m still doing that in regards to my manual E90 M3 I sold 8 years ago. I have car ADHD. At a year in, I’m always looking at different cars… M5C, AMG C63S, another G80 (Individual), Alfa Giulia Q.. first world problems yeah.

I will say, the one thing that’s forcing me to keep it.. it’s always special. I somewhat lost that feeling with the G80. The 5BW is exciting and moving in any form, and I think that is primarily due to the immediate torque, exhaust note, and the crisp shifting of the TR6060 transmission (one of the best from Tremec). It always makes you feel giddy inside.

One caveat. I’m a sucker for a wicked V8. This may not be that big of a deal for some, but for me it is almost a non-negotiable. I was never in love with the S58 (primarily sound).

It’s funny, the fake “M sound” almost sounds like the e9x V8 without the induction. I took some GoPro videos and the guys I ride with said “it sounds nothing like that from outside the car.” Yup.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the G8x sounds fantastic. vbb passed me last weekend at WOT (single mid pipe) and it sounded amazing.

Maybe I’m just a country boy at heart and need the V8 burble in my life.

I like the sound of my M4. That said, it doesn't hold a candle to the sound of my previous C7 with Corsa exhaust and open valves. A proper V8 definitely wins in the sound department.

I fully understand car ADHD because I suffer from it too. But I think you're right, you'll likely regret getting rid of your Blackwing if you do it.

Might be the first time I have ever seen someone write M3/4 sounds fantastic in the same sentence since 2008-2013. Lol. To each their own, when it comes to sound.

Yeah, of course it is subjective, but with my supersprint single resonated midpipe, sport plus and valves open it does sound good, especially at WOT. It definitely needed some help in the sound department compared to stock though.

FISH22 , Do yourself a favor and resist the automotive ADHD and keep the car. You’ll regret letting it go further down the road.

Cars like this are getting fewer and further between.

Ha, I texted him almost the exact same thing! You're absolutely right. He should hold on to this car.

So, I'm not the OP (obviously) but I bought a CT5-V BW last year largely based on feedback from owners including Mr. Fish. It is an expensive car, difficult to obtain, and gets lousy fuel economy.

Last week the wife asked me if I still liked it. Like @Fish, I have car ADHD and after a few months, I get the itch again. I have been applying Blackwing anti-itch medication and it has solved the issue. This car is exactly what I've always wanted - tremendous power, sharp handling, comfortable ride (you would be amazed at the suspension on this thing) and a manual transmission. The only shortcoming, honestly, is that there is a lot of road noise. My answer to her was yes, I still love it.

OK, the other shortcoming is that you have to go to a Cadillac dealer for warranty service. Which fortunately, knock on wood, I've not yet needed to do, and hopefully never will. We get spoiled by BMW.

Would either of you sell a e92 m3 manual so you could buy a 5V BW? I'm out of garage space lol
