Hello! The car has 22k miles on it, it is a manual 2022 M4. I have been feeling a clunk (clunk/jerk/slight jolt) from the rear end of my car when I press the gas after coasting in gear. There is only one clunk each time. (let off gass to coast in gear -> wait x seconds -> press gas pedal -> clunk).

It happens in the 5th gear almost 100% of the time. It does not happen in lower gears; it is more pronounced in higher gears. It does not happen when I resume throttle immediately after I let off either.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Isn't this normal? I'm pretty sure the manual even states it.

Gear lash is nothing new. it will worsen after you beat on it. Ring/Pinion backlash is better off loose than too tight.

I'm pretty new to manual transmissions, is this something I need to be wary about?
