Wonder if the M5CS will have a similar fate as the M3/4CS where they just sit on dealer lots with discounts. Curious to see how it will compare to the upcoming GT73.

The price was indeed not right, but outside the US market, the idea of a dealer ordering cars for the lot is not very common. Some countries in Europe received only a handful of allocations, which got sold quickly. Second-hand CS' still command a pretty hefty premium over CPs over here.

To keep the interest in a model already in its second half of production cycle high - every M5 known to man (E39 excluded) had several special editions.

Any sportier version of an M car is way better than some hypebeast collaborations... M5 CS over M5 Kith edition all day long

Disappointing on the M5CS. Would have loved to see the car with the CF buckets and carbon body panels plus some serious decontenting like removal of soft close doors, power trunk, lighter door panels, etc. Drop 400 lbs off of it and I am all in on it.

Still plenty of dealers in Germany with M3/M4cs unable to sell them.

Would the M5 CS have the carbon core tech from the 8 series?

IX1 is it due in 2022?
This is a very intresting car, should do well within EU.

Have you seen the soft door closing units? They are tiny and all four door units can't weigh over two pounds.

400lbs off is not realistic. Maybe 125 if all the "conforts" are removed (including rear seats).

only several months ago you could get a M3 CS for less money than a normal M3.

This M5 is a complete dud and misses the point

Do you think that for a tiny volume car BMW will make fundamental chassis changes with all the costs and testing associated with that happening in 2020?

I would be very surprised!

It's a fair point - though they could leverage the R&D from the 8 series.
