Just so you are aware, these are not mutually exclusive, they can do a pre-cut that gets tucked. A quality installer may use a template they cut in the shop on a plotter, but extend the edges for a more custom fit.

If just doing full body PPF, you shouldn't be spending anything more than $4,500-$5K I believe. These are all Canadian $ though.
Whole car that is VERY cheap. I would say this is atypical.

After 6 months of having the car...consider ppf the sides, too. I ppf'd the whole front.

with the fat tyres up front (stock), on curves, the tyres will kick up small rocks up onto the doors and you will get chips there.

Haven't had any first third of roof get chips.

I have had full PPF since new. About 10,000km on the car and the PPF on my rear arches is already beaten up.

I actually pay quite a bit less than even that for a full PPF. All cash deal of course and I have a guy that I take all my vehicles to and send countless other people too so maybe that helps a bit. But I feel like $4K-$5K JUST for the ppf on whole car is reasonable. Of course do not know American pricing in your neck of the woods.

I paid 7500ish for full car Xpel Stealth PPF, full tint and ceramic. Well worth it IMO but this is a weekend car for me that I plan to keep for years to come.

This 100%. Modified pre-cut is the preferred method for the most consistent and even result. The notion that hand cut is better than pre-cut is simply incorrect.

In 2017 it cost me 1200 to wrap the front end of my Hellcat. I just paid 2250 for a full front wrap. I used a place that does all the work for the BMW Performance Center. A lot of people taking delivery at the PC want their cars protected prior to the owner picking it up for a long drive home. That gave me pretty good confidence and they did an amazing job. Our bumpers are not easy to wrap and mine is perfect. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I also got a lifetime warranty on it.

Has anyone ever wrapped their car with Covrgard? If so, how is the quality versus Stek or other ppfs?

That just about what I paid. Mine included the ceramic tint. The XPEL package was the “Cross Country package” and include bumper, full hood (or bonnet to our British folks), fenders (wings), mirrors and the edges of the doors.

I think it comes down to how long you plan to own the car.

I had the front of my 2019 C63S done with Xpel PPF and the car with Xpel fusion ceramic. I just traded it in on a 2024 Black M8 Comp. I had zero knicks on the non PPL portion of the car when I traded. Had 2 areas where you could see the Xpel had protected the car. The other spots must have been small enough to heal.

I’m having the same done for my M8.

35% tint on sides and back and front 70% which is legal in VA. Would like to go darker but don’t want the hassle of having to remove it if I’m pulled. Will also have the inside done with ceramic because I’ve got Alcatara on the dash/ doors.

The shop I use will pull the lights, etc and is top of the line. $6.7K.
