M3 CS vs M3 Comp xdrive dilemma…
Hi guys!
Im looking for opinions on making a decision between getting a M3 Comp Xdrive fully loaded with packages with regular seats vs getting M3 CS in frozen white. I was lucky to get allocation on both cars - M3 Comp production in May and M3CS production in September. I have a wife and two kids and this is going to be my personal car (my wife drives tesla Y), but more or less this will be a daily driver car to work / pick up kids from school, and occasionally tracking over the weekend. Cant decide if I need to pay over and loose a lot of comfort options, but recognize the uniqueness of CS. Would love to get your thoughts around this to help with the decision. Thanks! |

Get the CS. The lack of center console storage might get annoying, but it will serve just fine as a daily. At the end of the day, it's still a 3-Series.

The M3 CS is going to be more special. I had an F80 M3 CS and the lack of center console never bothered me!

I think in this case, you have to ask yourself some tough questions on whats important. If you need cupholders and you want to spend less money because the car is a daily, go x-drive.
If you want your car to hold its value, CS, but that depends on how many miles you will put on it and how long you keep it. Personally i think the xdrive M3 is already so good (supposedly), that the CS might just be an incremental leap. The CS could also have the CSL's gearbox tuning which is not something i wanted to live with anymore (so i sold my CSL). I didn't want to live with in anymore on the weekends, daily it would have been unbearably annoying. If the CS gearbox is as lurchy in 1st to 2nd in 3-bar as the CSL was, i wouldn't be buying the car most likely. |

Id get an X. The CS is over priced for less car IMO.

I think for what you are getting it for—daily every day family car—I would just get the non-CS version. If it was a weekend warrior sort of thing then I would definitely get the CS. If you are wanting regular seats then that just adds to reason to get the non-CS version.
I use the center console to rest my right arm everytime I drive my car for normal use. Think freeway driving or driving to pick up the kids. The only time my right arm isn't resting on the center console is if I'm driving on some back roads etc. I actually use the cupholder quite often too. Fast food runs or Starbucks etc. The convenience is real.

Non-CS version especially if being daily driven. If it was a weekend car, I'd go CS since it will retain its value better. I personally don't like the black/red exterior accents on the CS.

Lol almost same scenario as me. I have two young kids and my wife drives a Tesla Y. I’ve been trying to get her to switch to a 45e or 50e(on order) but that’s another story.
I don’t have a commute since I work all over the world and my wife just drops me off at the airport. I was on the fence on a CSL but wanted the rear seats for practicality hence the CS. The door has cup holders according to the pictures and maybe some other annoyances like no rear AC/heater controls for kids but they won’t be in the car often. I have always bought used BMW’s and wanted to eventually do Euro delivery but we all know that is off the table. I am in a position to afford the car I want so I’m getting the CS. Don’t get me wrong, the M3Cx is attractive but I want something special this round. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. |

All of the CS colors are boring in my opinion, the best color in the CS is black and it just looks like every other black M3 on the road. And frozen white on the CS just doesn’t look good, although I’ve never been a fan of matte finishes.

If the budget isnt of any concern, i would go with M3cs which might make everyday driving more special.
And this thread needs a poll. |

Thank you all! This is super helpful! A lot of good food for thought!
I plan to own the car for 4 years (maybe more depending on how much I am going to like it) and drive at least 10-12k miles a year - seems like this might destroy some value of the CS model vs appreciation over time... Also, I never drove a CSL with its tuned gearbox, but definitely will have to research more now if daily driving can be a challenge. Budget is always a concern, but in my current situation I can afford either cars. Cup holders and a center console is a big miss, I agree. But if a driving experience is that much better than I might be able to live with it, perhaps not my wife though Thanks all! |

Cup holders were huge with my wife as she enjoys her coffee going to cars and coffee with me, and quite frankly I enjoy drinking mine as well. |

Comp. The CS suspension is not compatible with your needs, among other potential concerns.

I have a ‘22 CX and had the chance earlier this year to get a black CS that I could not customize, which was a deal breaker for me.
Setting aside the take it as is aspect of the CS, if I was in your position I believe it makes more sense to spend the $30K on mods (which I’ve done) than to get the CS.

Didn't realize that M3CS has no driver/passenger cup holders until now. As shallow as this may sounds, as a daily I could never buy this car for that reason alone. Now as a track toy/weekend warrior, that's a different story.
