The whole experience sounds really cool, but for myself living in Hawaii a PCD seems quite the logistical nightmare. Especially if BMW is not responsible for the cost of transporting the vehicle back to your home State. Not to mention all the additional taxes Hawaii would slap on a new vehicle that was considered purchased from out of State.

Your dealer takes care of registration before you leave. They will either provide you temp tags or ship them to the Performance center. If you have an inspection required you will need to that when you get back. And if you are purchasing from a local dealer all taxes should been taken care of in your buyers order.

I leave for my PCD on my g83 on 7/13 and pick it up on the 14th.

I can only echo what OP has written up in a very detailed way - the experience is top notch by BMW. All the paperwork and license tags will be taken care of by your dealer. As an additional note if you buy out of state, make sure your dealer can do all of it - including the monetary transaction - online. Some dealers still require you to go into their dealership to fully execute the transaction before heading down to SC to pick up your dream car.

It's not a bad drive home, like 700 miles to FtL. Plus, you'll get that much closer to break-in service.
