So this is kind of funny I guess and just wondering if any of you think the same. I told my salesman a couple of days ago I didn't want any pictures of the car once it arrived at the dealer. It arrived last night and he asked if I wanted a sneak peak of the car. I'm assuming just a corner shot or something. I laughed and told him I want to see it so bad but no! LOL!

I have this thing about going to a dealership and seeing cars in showrooms and the lights and drooling over them. When I buy a car I always want the wow factor kind of like Christmas morning you know.

Now I've seen plenty of pictures IOMG and Kyalami orange interior by now but I haven't seen one in the flesh and we all know how different it is in real life. The salesman said it's a stunning spec and I just can't wait to see it in real life for the first time. Hopefully it will be like I've never seen it before and I will drool all over it.

Anyone else think the same way?

Saw mine for the first time in the dealership warehouse because I couldn't pick her up right away as she got delivered a few weeks before the official launch date (mid March). I really couldn't wait another 2 weeks because I already waited like 3 months at that point and haven't seen any G8X in person. I was super nervous seeing her in flesh for the first time, especially on the back of all the grill controversy and was actually worried that I might not like it. The warehouse certainly didn't have the showroom lighting, and she was sitting all the way in the corner, behind several hundred 5 series sedans, X3s and X7s but man... did she stand out RIGHT AWAY with such strong/aggressive presence and needless to say I was completely blown away

I saw my IOMG/KO for the first time while it was on the lift going through the pre-delivery inspection. I couldn't wait because it was going to be an unknown amount of time before delivery. They found an oil leak and weren't sure the cause at the time. Had to wait for a local part which thankfully solved the issue vs. having to wait for something from Germany.

This was the very first G8X I had seen in person. Still had the same wow factor on delivery day too.

No way. I want to see my car as early as the roll of aluminum at the plant and every stage along the way that I can. I'll take a live feed of it sitting static on the ship on the way over here.

Hah, same!

I put a call out on Facebook a few years ago when my M2 was supposed to be arriving at the dealership and had a few members of the staff catch it on the truck for me at least. That part was a lot of fun.

LOL. I actually would have paid to see my car built in the factory because that would be so cool to watch. When it gets to the dealer though I just want to walk in the center of the showroom with all the lights on it like it's a statue of a Roman Emperor and have my jaw drop lol.

Feel the same way. Let me see it being built - it's 2021 for goodness sake . . . can we not figure this out??

I can watch nearly anything and track the location of nearly anything but having a car built to spec can only be as good as several day old data and the energy you expend trying to piece the transit puzzle together...

I was thinking about this too. They know which car is yours because they need to know what paint to use, what options you're getting etc. So using existing technology you can install cameras at each station. When your build ID enters that station, start recording. Upload the recordings and automatically stitch them together into one video, export, email link to customer on delivery day.
