Just telling you what i'm hearing, in the U.S. its going to be 1 per dealership. Presumably they need that window to make cars for the rest of the world. Seems odd, but it is what it is. I'm expecting there to be massive demand, especially after youtube drag races, etc, like there was with the M5 CS.

It's incredible. This has got to be nudging up on 10sec 1/4 with the right tires and conditions

This is true, my rep told me this the other day. Lucky he told me last year there would be a CS and to get my deposit in. Might not daily this thing if its going to be so limited…

Slushbox BMW sedans will never be collectibles. At least not for a decade or so. Even M2 CS and M5 CS aren't holding their values, and people thought they'd go up and up in value.

I plan to drive and enjoy my M3 CS just like i'm enjoying my CSL.

Given you've got the CSL, I'm curious ScullyD, are you buying the CS because of X-Drive?

So perhaps I should buy the one I'm being offered at 20k over?😅 like do you think I'd be able to sell it for close to what I paid after driving it around a bit?

Yeah the x-drive usability, plus with the CCBs on it, the car weighs about 3860 pounds which is about 230 lbs less than an M5 CS. I think it could be an absolute monster, like a Jr M5 CS but even more agile. I think it will have a different character to the CSL, which is very rear drive and drift happy.

With the recent 5 star EVO review of the M3 Touring and M4 xdrive, i think it should be just as good. Now with it being so limited, if you can get one, there is very little monetary risk of depreciation (in my view).

In Australia, everything comes in late. I'm still waiting for the CSL to arrive in June or July.

Truth be told, I wish they had done this in reverse; M3CSL & M4CS X-Drive. But, I'm not complaining.

Wouldn't make much sense since ditching the rear seats is the easiest thing to do to shed weight.

I calculated that if I remove the rear seat and bench (temporarily), use lightweight wheels, replace the exhaust by a titanium one on my next 6mt M3 it will have pretty much the same weight as my CSL, of course suspension tuning and power won't but just to say that the whole talk in the forums about weight it way overblown, there is more to it.

I had a (supposedly) a spot for a M3CS but either they come later to Canada or my dealer just said that with the CSL and the M3 coming he's had enough haha.

My reasoning for wishing they did the CSL on the G80 instead of G82 is purely nostalgic. It would have made more sense to keep in line with the E46 CSL in that sense.

Other than that, I'm not phased one way or another.

The E46 CSL was a coupe as well, they just did not call it M4 yet (and did not even have rear seat delete if I'm not mistaken)

One CS per dealer would definitely create some hype and allow for markups - which makes little sense for BMW since the dealer is profiting from such a business model. I would have bought one, but am not on the top spot with my dealer and have no interest in calling around and negotiate any markups or other BS.

And I agree that these will not be collectibles, so drive them and enjoy them. It is a parts bin car, albeit a very good one tuned to maximize the engine output with an optimized chassis.

If anyone is looking my dealer has one at 20k over, according to them it will lock TODAY and you won't be able to spec color or ccbs since it's going into production and most likely to be one if the first off the line. If anyone is interested shoot me a DM (northeast dealer)

Does it really even matter a few tenths quicker than a Xdrive comp 0-60?

Its just bragging rights. It can't just rely on a limited edition status. It has to have better sound, feel and the ZF transmission needs to have a better connected experience with the car to justify 120k+
Alfa has done it with the transmission. Making it DCT like with no DCT negatives. Also they need to stop the fake shift pop sound when going through the gears imo.

The ZF in the CSL is already extremely connected, if not too connected. I’m hoping they turn it down a bit for the CS. BMW already has ZF maxed out for the M5 CS and CSL.

The CSL ZF implementation blows the M3C away and I’d expect it’s better than the Alfa as well.

Believe Porsche will announce 992.2 and the first hybrid model this year there’s also the new AMG GT…

There’s plenty new performance cars coming out but also depends on how much your talking.

I want to track the car. Not seen any lap times. M4CSL posted a Ring time of 7:20 at reveal.

M4CompxD is 7:28. Can't find it for M3CompxD. Has to be couple of seconds slower say 7:30.

In absense of any publically available lap times, that would put the M3CS not much faster, if at all, than 7:28.

If that's true why spend the extra $20K for the M3CS?

So your competing in some kind of competition? It's not just about lap times it's how the car feels, N-Ring times are somewhat useful at comparing performance between cars but there are many variables and on a 1:50min track the difference is way smaller so it's pretty moot.

My guess is you don't have a lot of HPDE experience and you think lap times is what matters, take your time doing track days smoothly with instructors and you will understand.
