This must be your first build. Hendrick owns the car right now, not you. If they agree to sell it to someone else, you're SOL. You can't demand delivery because it's not yours.

Wrong....Hendricks owns the car but he has a signed contract and deposit on it. It's HIS until they take delivery and he then says he doesn't want it. If they did void it, which they won't. they would have to give him his deposit back.

Everyone is all in a tizzy here, but selling an allocation isn't unheard of in this market. Especially if the car is 3 to 5 weeks from delivery. To some that is worth something. I do think OP is being a little greedy and aggressive with the $15k price tag, but at the end of the day, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

Probably not going to happen here. You should join the wholesale buyers group on facebook... Pretty sure there's alot of this going on there and guys will pay.
What was that?

OP,
I was not the person that dimed you out. I do think it's a little childish of someone to do so, but here we are. It sounds like you never really wanted the car so I think this will work out for the best for you - you can buy what you really want. Good luck with everything, and while I didn't agree with what you were doing, I definitely didn't wish for this outcome.

Thank you, appreciate it. Never thought in a million years it would come to this especially after coming full circle and saying i was just going to buy the car and take the post down. Oh well, live and learn I guess

Well, if its any solace, I just happened to come across an M3 (prob yours) and lost out to buy it as I was late by 6 min. It sold for just 5K over MSRP (I think coz I offered 6K over but they still wouldnt do it) and then I come across your post and its insane what a small world this is. Atleast the "new" buyer didnt have to pay 15K over MSRP.

However, and as someone else mentioned, posting your selling dealership when trying to do this BEFORE you have a deal isn't smart. As you can see there are a lot of people who aren't quite supportive of your endeavor. I say this because I know the sales manager at one of the Hendricks there in Charlotte and I can guarantee he'd pull this from you if he knew what you were doing. There are others with just as many connections in the car community if they disliked your post enough.

It's a small world. Good luck.
Appreciate your input, and didn't realize so many would be upset. Also, i guess each dealer is different, but assumed they wouldn't care what someone did with their allocation as long as they made their sale. Not the first time I've been wrong. In my previous comment I said I'm just going to take delivery of the car which is what I intend to do now. I thought I had another car in place and don't need 2 M3's, but that appears to be falling through so after all this back and forth it's moot and I'll be getting the Brooklyn grey when it arrives.
OP - Even though I called this happening and warned you, It's still unfortunate to hear it happened, but not surprising.

Like I said originally, there are a lot of people who are highly connected in the automotive community on this site, including managers, CA's, SA's etc. and keep in mind, Rick Hendrick's group is the 4th or 5th largest dealer group in the US.

¨The used car market is NOT changing anytime soon with supply chain and logistic delays¨

I would argue the car market is already changing. Progressively, but changing already.

If they don’t like the price, which is negotiable, to take delivery of a 2023 in weeks instead of a year, that’s their right. But you’re correct I probably wouldn’t get backlash if i drive it for 3,000 miles then list it for 100-$105k like every single dealer is priced right now.

Get a grip guys, I’m not asking anything insane or doing something a dealer wouldn’t do…go try and order a C8 Z06 right now, some dealers are $50-100k over which is nuts. Watch what they sell for second hand though once they hit the streets. I WANT an M3, just wish the one I got was orange interior. But I’ll happily take delivery of this one at msrp and laugh when a dealer gives me $10k over sticker on trade in if i decide to get rid of it. If you think about it , the car was originally ordered @ MSRP, cancelled and resold for 5 over relatively fast.
I'd say with cars of this caliber , we are not there yet & not even close.

Why did you name the dealership? That’s a chunk of the value right there. Anyone can call and offer a few bucks over you and you’re out. You asked for it.

Yep !!! Thats the one. It was missing was the parking assistance package even though it had DAPP and executive pkg. i was like why would someone leave that out when they literally have all the other tech lol. I literally wanted A car and would have taken it. Offered 95K but apparently the manager wouldnt budge as another client had beat me to it by 6 min. Turned out to be a blessig as i got an allocation that was still customizable and placed my order exactly the way I wanted it

There are a lot of MY22 cars missing it because there was a period of time where it was removed from the configurator and a lot of people didn't know it was actually still available.

No one is going to buy it off of you and then the dealer is going to sell it when it gets there and make their $.. which is exactly what you deserve

Oh snap, you told me! Lol. I don’t care what you think i deserve, and also as the comment above states read the whole thread. I changed my mind and was going to keep the car but someone who sounds a lot like you called the dealer and told on me like we were in elementary school. I bet you’re happy, but guess what? I got a G80 M3 anyways and already have possession of it

Happy for you, bud! Never agreed with your strategy, but nonetheless happy you got the car you really wanted. Enjoy it!
