CA indicates that the G83 (completed in wk 37) is now at the port awaiting a ship. As of today, there are no stop holds on this vehicle at Bremerhaven.

Well I’m happy people are flipping to 150! But it seems the build week we are told doesn’t matter much.... over the last two days folks from week 37, 38, 39 and 40 have flipped?

I’m still told I’m week 37

At this point, I think I’m going to switch to checking my status once a week instead of multiple times a day to help my mental health lol.... and add the parking assistance package 🤷🏼

I didn’t add it because I didn’t want to delay my build week 37 by doing that (my CA said it would cause delays)

Now that I know the build schedule is F’d for the next few months due to multiple shortages, delay is expected..... so once I found out week 37 is now 42 I added it on because no matter what it’s going to get here when it gets here... parking assistance helps prevent curb rash on those nice wheels.

You should get what you want. It’s better to experience a few weeks of delay now instead of feeling regret over the next couple of years on what is nearly a 6-digit purchase.

Parking assist helps with not curbing wheels but just as importantly, it prevents front bumper lip scrapes.

i didnt option it and the car comes with a back up camera with lines plus the mirrors automatically fold down to the curb when you park and u can see the rear tires. i have an rwd g80

pretty sure the parking assist automatically parallel parks the car for you...

Park assist gives you 360 degree cameras, with 3D view, top down view and front cross-traffic view. It includes automatically detecting and switching orientation of the front camera to look down (software) and help to not hit the parking bar or curb.

It also has automatic parallel as well as regular parking. It detects spots as you drive by and allows you to select the detected spots on the screen to park into.

It also has automatic back up assistant where the car constantly remembers all your steering actions and throttle input going into a location and it can replay it backwards for you to get out (see online videos for a better explanation).

Basic backup cameras are legally required in all cars in the US, and dipping mirrors are standard on BMWs.

All true, kjx. I currently have it on my G05 X5 but not on my on-order G82. I never use the automatic parking function and used the automatic backup assistant maybe twice in nearly 3 years. The additional camera views are nice to have (mostly for remote 3D views on MyBMW app), but I chose to do without in order to avoid delays in either production or delivery.

I guess some people need the extra cameras to help them park. I was going to option it for my awd g80 but thought I’d never use the self park feature. It’s really a convenience feature because nobody really needs a top view of them parking their car. it should be standard anyway at this price

I use it in my f150 all the time but that thing is a pita to parallel park.

I worked for Enterprise part time at the airport moving cars from deck to wash bay and back. I learned very quick how to back up and quickly because we had cars coming in and out of deck. I got a chance to experience just about every make of back up cameras and hated many. I did not option park assist because I can maneuver in a spot with any size car quickly.
