2023 GTRs vs. 2022+ G8X
Well, the 2023 GTRs are out. And just to give my first impressions from a potential buyer perspective of either another M4/M3 or the GTR, here are my thoughts:
I was highly anticipating the release of the 2023 GTR, but its current market continues to be beyond crazy. If I sound sour, just bear with me since I already spoke with 6 dealerships. Their ADM starts at $15K; making it a $130K sport car before taxes. And to add insult to injury, this price has come and gone. This is the price that people in November/December time frame paid for a car that just arrived last week. (All this for a car that did not change since ~'17; same looks, same hp/tq) ADM for the left over GTRs are in the $30K to $65K range. And apparently, based on the highest Vin out there, only about 150 units are being released in the U.S. So, having owned both, I can truly say that I would have no issues getting another M4 at this point. Performance is very close if not ahead of the GTR in stock form. And the only areas that the M4 suffers, IMO, are sound and looks. * one more thing I give the GTR credit for: it has the best analog:digital technological ratio, making it easy to tune and upgrade. So, on a GTR vs. G8x in todays market, I give my vote to BMW. Just my 2 cents.

I think they are similar on paper for sure, while the GTR is definitely long in the tooth, I think if long-term value retention is your goal, the GTR is the better option.
Both immensely tunable, but GTR more so. Both handle well, probably a wash. GTR is going to sound better and feel more racey vs. the digital feeling M3. GTR is much more rare, I see M3/M4's all the time around here. Plus GTR has the mystique of being a hand built motor by one man. Looks are subjective, but I would take a GTR any day. Personally, if they were the same money, I would take a GTR. But they aren't and if money is a factor, I would go for the more daily livable/comfortable M3/M4. |

There were only 57 GTR sold in North America last year and only 1 was sold in Q4…I think the price or ADM will just keep going crazy as Godzilla going into extinction.
I would vote for G8X as well unless GTR has serious update on its platform. |

Haven't driven a G8x M but I do love the newer GT-Rs. Keep in mind they make incremental improvements ("kaizen") every so often and the 2023 is much better than say a 2017 in terms of refinement and throttle response even if they look the same and have the same specs on paper.
