Best Radar Dector

Need some input. My G80CX should be coming in soon. I’d like to get some advice on which radar dector to go with.
Uniden R7 vs Escort Max 360c vs Valentine One V1 Gen2.
Similar prices, I think escort most expensive. I haven’t used one in like a decade so not sure what to go with.
Thank you!!

Uniden get my vote. They have the longest range in my experience.

Very subjective question. Check on this forum - https://www.rdforum.org

I went with an R8 for fewer false positives, and I am happy with it. I use Apple, so the Highway Radar app paired with a Valentine or Escort does not appeal to me. Waze and the R8 have worked well but check out the forum.

I just had to make this decision and settled on the Uniden R7. I like the GPS and mute memory without needing a companion app like the Valentine.

I also installed a Fitcamx dash cam at the same time I hardwired the radar and mounted with a blendmount.

Not on your list but I've been using a Redline 360c for the last year or so. I do a lot of highway driving and the range is absolutely insane, very few false alerts as well. Any of those high end detectors will serve you well.

If I had to choose one of those I’d get the Uniden R7. I have a basic R1 and it’s saved me multiple times, even without the fancy GPS features and directional arrows.

I like Uniden. I have a R3, R4, and a R7. They’ve saved me from getting pulled over more times than I can remember. Unless you need/want arrows, I’d save a few hundred $$ and just buy a R4.

I have a Uniden R3 and 2 R7s. They've been great for me. You absolutely have to Segment the detector. It needs to be setup for your state, and even your cities most driven in. I'm fortunate to live in California, where 99% or the radar signatures are Ka. So, I choose to turn of K and X bands. The detector reacts much faster and has a better range, when it doesn't have to monitor all bands.

If you live outside of California, K band is still used in a lot of places. The problem is, detectors can false to certain brands of cars with radar, lane departure, and parking sensors. Its best to segment around those bands, if you can avoid them, so, you're not driving down the freeway getting falses from cars passing by.

When you segment, the detector will be in "Advanced" versus City or Highway. Detectors are pretty much worthless, unless they're setup properly.

The R3 or R7 with the international 1.50 firmware reduces almost all the false alarms. There is someone on the rdforums that custom write it and charges around $45 for it.

Get the uniden R8. It's the latest and greatest right now and it also has the potential to add Laser jammers (which Uniden hasn't released yet, I don't think). I live in the state of Texas and I have dialed the settings in for my state. Rarely get any false positives. I made a road trip to Florida without changing the settings and it spotted a cop every single time without fail. It has a really good range too.

Uniden R7… get the wire to hardwire to overhead as well.
The new R8 has few more features, but I don’t think it provides any better range than R7.

What do people think about the custom install ones? A friend had an escort 360 installed in an M5 was super stealth and seemed to work well minus the K bad false positives. It also had integrated laser jammers.

Uniden is coming out with a custom install as well. Not sure if it’s actually released.

I have the R8 and the v1g2. I think the Valentine has slightly better range..but if your into customization a bunch of settings then the r8 is what you should get. The gps lockouts of the r8 are nice too. The valentine is nice that’s it’s just unbox and go
