That's still too wide for a winter tire, it's going to float on the snow. A 245 would be ideal on a 8.5" wheel.

Wouldn't the low ground clearance be your first gating factor if you are driving in deep snow and want the tire to cut into snow?

No you want a narrow tire first, you have a smaller contact patch with more weight on it, rather than the opposite with a wider tire.
Is the m340 crowd also getting 275 winter tires? Doubt it, there's no reason to go that wide.
