Question: Fiona Red interior

So, I was all set to choose fiona red for my build but then from photos it looks like it doesn't now include alcantara on the carbon seats like other colors? Is that accurate?

Yup, specifically the inner side bolsters are red as well unlike most of the other offerings. Fjord blue is the same.

Damn...Ok. Probably not something you can request either. Guess I am back to Dravit/silverstone or dravit/black.

Yep! This pic is what made me ask. I really like the premium look/feel of the alcantara inserts. It's a must have for me even though the fiona is gorgeous!

I also wanted Fiona but when I saw this as well it was either Kyalami or silverstone. I went with KO

You have dravit too? I think Kylami is too orange for me so I will probably go silverstone. I noticed you are in the Bay Area as well. Where did you get your car from?

I got mine from Peter Pan BMW. I have Brooklyn Grey. Silverstone is a solid choice

Another question about Fiona (my order will have the standard seats)….should I worry about the red fading or wearing over time? I've never had a car with bright leather like that, and, I'm just curious if I will see fading or wearing of the red "coloring" 5-6 years later? Will the red coating come off over years of use (and years of cleaning)?

You'll have no issues with color fading brodie, just regular wear and tear. Nothing to be concerned about . enjoy in good health

On another note, thank you OP for this thread. I was not aware at all that Fiona Buckets are missing the alcantara. This blows major

I love the red. But if I were getting the full blown bucket seats then I would lean towards the Kalami.

On 2015 435 I had coral red and on 2017 M3 I had Sakhir Orange. Blue jeans will leave a light fade on your seats - FYI

Thx for the info. Do you think the Dakota leather was any worse with this than the higher quality merino leather in the M3?

I had red on my e46 M3. No issues with fading after a few years. Also, you can get interiors ceramic coated now, I believe, and that might help.

NP! I'm glad I did. I love the red...it would look best with dravit IMO, but I really want that premium feel of the alcantara. Oh well....silverstone it probably will be for me. I really don't understand why BMW does things like this. they should just offer all the color the same configuration. Would have loved to have been able to get carbon buckets in Tartufo. Thanks to everyone who contributed here.

Funny thing this was mentioned, I actually veered away from Kyalami and silverstone due to the alcantara padding.
I ended up going with Ivory Instead as it's fully leather such as Fiona

Funny I personally think it looks more premium without the alcantara - full leather. Which is why I ordered full Fjord blue buckets.

I got Silverstone with Dravit and love it. Almost got Kyalami but my order switched to 150 status. Not mad about my choice and I did the Adam's ceramic coating for interior.

Apply ceramic coating to the leather once a year, and it'll be protected from fading, soiling and staining with just periodic, light cleaning. Coating and cleaning will also restore the leather to its original matte finish.

There's a detailed comparison around here somewhere of the various grades of leathers BMW installs in its vehicles. Net-net, a high-quality grade such as Merino is dyed in such a way that the color doesn't fade or wear off over years of use -- unlike more mainstream grades like Dakota or Vernasca.

Beautiful! What did the Adam's ceramic run you for the interior?

it was a Christmas gift but I believe 68 bucks on Amazon. My wife got the whole kit including brush and microfiber towel and sponge. It took me about a hour to complete including steering wheel, gear shift know and upper door cards and dashboard.
