It wasn't me doing anything to my car but...went shopping Sunday and someone fired up their Tanzanite M4 in the parking lot. My girlfriend, who could not care less about cars but was with me the day I picked up my G80, heard it and looked at me and grinned, "I recognize that sound!" before we'd even seen the car itself.

And if you were near the Total Wine in Sarasota on Sunday March 13...nice ride! That color was looking awesome in the bright sun.

Got some RW Carbon pieces that are unfortunately not up to my standards. Hoping they do the right thing.

Sorry for the headache. Care to share which pieces in particular? My experience has been 50/50 with them. I’ve used them for a couple vehicle’s applications now to this point over last 2-3 years. Mehhh.

My car got its first yearly service done yesterday so I spent the day with a base 330i X-drive (same spec my SO got as a loaner last month, but black this time). The only option on the car was heated seats, and it's the first BMW I've driven that had a VIN that started with "3" instead of "W".

I'm glad I spent the day with the thing, it was a fun reminder of how spoiled we all are with our cars. The 330ix is a solid and competent car, but it was shockingly bad in a few areas compared to our cars. Significant body roll. Folk who complain about numb steering in our cars need to spend a day with a base 330 to remind themselves what numb steering really is. I think I'd forgotten what brakes feel like on normal cars, too. The material on the door armrests is awful without extended or full leather upping its game. The center armrest is a good reminder of the difference between leather and Sensatec. The trim was a black, matte wood trim that looks like it cost 12 cents.

In comfort mode, the thing barely moved. In sport mode, it was spritely enough, so that was just the comfort mode calibrations. On the plus side, range is over 400 miles with a full tank.

I was very happy to get back into my car, which got a clean bill of health. I had checked the oil level the day before and the first year didn't include any oil consumption, which is great. My dealership, as expected, couldn't hear my gauge cluster rattle/vibration and didn't fix it so I will, again, take apart my own car to fix the unhappy sounds. I've had to do it every BMW I've bought from them, so I'm not surprised (disappointed, but not surprised).

At least this time it's actually possible they didn't hear it since it's intermittent...on my M2C the A-pillar rattle was so bad that the tech would have had to have been deaf to not hear it on the rough road in front of the dealership.

Sigh.

Ezra Dyer, the great C/D columnist, wrote that the M3 is designed for people "accustomed to a kind of frictionless precision in life," which hints at some degree of snobbery, but it's probably fair. On a recent ski trip out west, I rented a minivan for all the family gear and luggage. It was a Dodge Grand Caravan with about 20k miles on the clock, and it felt like the biggest POS I've ever sat in or driven. Just dreadful.

Looks great! Can you please tell me your suspension setup and if there is any rubbing or cutting that was needed in the process? Thanks!

I believe if the VIN starts with a "W" then it was built in Germany.

Yes. 3 means that the loaner was built in the new Mexico plant.

Took my car into service... And the 3 oil filters they thought were on hand were not there. Oh well, at least I got to drive one of the new i4's while I was there.
