Not sure about the seats. The color is great but need the seats to be the carbon back. Discounts must be offered for the grill repair. That is it. Prime kit will likely run 10K, BMW should offer a prepaid service to change over fronts and put up a warranty. Performance does not need to equal ugly. Porsche GT3 RS is an example. |

I got to see it in person at this event on Wednesday. I think the grille is okay. I don't love it. To me, the hood and everything above the grille where the roundel is are way worse than the grille itself. The recent BMW marketing campaigns are also a massive disappointment. So I guess that makes the grille my third least favorite thing -- not even the grille, actually; it's that BMW ignored and seemingly continues to ignore tons and tons of feedback. It's one thing when the pitchforks come out on a forum like this, but another thing entirely when your global YouTube and Insta audiences pan what you've done. That shouldn't have happened -- or if it does, you better be dang sure you know what you're doing.
I was talking with one of the BMW event guys (they work for an agency, not BMWNA directly) while the car was under the sheet and I expressed my opinion above and that it was based on the photos I've seen. He said he wanted to hear what I thought after I saw it in person. After I saw it, I told him my opinion of the grille was only marginally better. He said I was the first person he spoke with who didn't love it after they saw it. The message was clearly that I was supposed to have changed my mind once I saw it in person (and that this is what BMW is banking on). Based on the other comments in this thread -- namely, a few people specifically saying they saw it live and still don't like it and (so far, at least) not a single person on this thread saying seeing the car in person really changed their mind, I'd say BMW is still in full PR mode trying to influence what people think about the front of the car. Then I left the dealership and saw the faces of all the other new BMWs on the lot and you know what? They looked kind of dated. But these were mostly 5 Series and X-models with huge horizontal grilles; it's not like I was walking out to see a row of F80s for a direct comparison. So I guess time will tell. Maybe I'll like it in the end, but if I do, I suspect it will be because I'm just used to it, not that I really think it's awesome. We'll see what BMW does. I really hope they're willing to be honest with themselves internally (and ideally, externally) and admit the front of the car wasn't the bold success they were hoping for and that they figure out internally how to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Porsche didn't keep the fried egg headlights after the 996, so I'm hoping BMW will figure out how to move on from this with grace and class. Last edited by ///BYU; 11-08-2020 at 08:23 PM.. |

The idea of "getting used to" the grille reminds me of this line from Alexander Pope's Essay on Man:
Vice is a monster of so frightful mien, As to be hated needs but to be seen; Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, We first endure, then pity, then embrace. It's probably not what a designer should aspire to, yet here we are... Last edited by ///BYU; 11-08-2020 at 05:37 PM.. |

I like the car, I am just not sure about IOMG as a color choice, as someone mentioned it is a nice color, but it seems to be everywhere and many people will be going with this color and it will be like LBB with the M2. I am not sure how the color choice will age. It is disappointing that once again to get a decent blue you have to spend $2000 extra. Black seems like it would be great, tough to maintain, hoping by 2022 model year the color choices are adjusted.

That green is just so splendid. If I end up getting an M3 or M4, this is definitely my colour of choice.

[QUOTE=AlexFL;26876813]Photos from an G80 M3 unveiling event here in SoFla.
Thanks for the pics, glad you got to see it up close. I'm really disappointed that BMW UK or our dealers have not done ANY public launch or dealer events for either the new 4-series or the M3/4. They have cars in the UK, as I've seen pics at BMW UK HQ (a few miles from where I live) and plenty of YouTube videos, but absolutely zero/zip/nada in terms of things that interested customers can see them. I'm even a member of the BMW UK car club and nothing there either! |

I like / can live with every aspect of the car except for the grill (still). It's actually becoming more egregious to my eye as time goes on. One of the worst design decisions in automotive history.

Ok little input from my dealer regarding this black 825 Wheels:
According to BMW itself they won't be available as they are a "pre-production" item which haven't been gloss milled (used google translate here so excuse me if you don't understand it...) anyway. Nono Black 825 But maybe in the US it is different, I don't know. |

With respect, yes, you and every other person has made your mind clear on this subject...yet here you are still.

I was shocked when my M3 CS came with PSS instead of PS4S in 2018, when the PS4S were out 18 months and readily available.
