It’s surprisingly sturdy and a breeze to install. Just need to install 4 screws and doesn’t lower the height of the car or have to move the rubber dam. Shipping was super fast from UK with mine coming in 5 days and I paid $150 for it including shipping . So far looks great !!

Think I’ll give this one a go, thanks for the link.

As an aside has anyone tried the mesh grills they sell for the front, I kinda like the idea but hoping for some real world experience

Lol...no. I did a couple of things. Changed my summer to All season wheels, added the CSL yellow DRL's and since the car was on the jack stands anyways, put the mesh too. Have the front lip and air carbon air ducts to install but Ill wait till spring to do it. Its already 40 degrees here and cold...lol

I think the OEM Mesh should protect against most debris. I was planning to install the CF air ducts and wanted a mesh to go behind the duct. Im looking at doing the gutter guard mesh and I feel you could do the same for the OEM mesh but put it behind it using double sided tape. That way it still looks good and inconspicuous

Bunch of Porsche guys run them and they work well. If you are ok with the look, they are effective.

I've not seen them installed on a G8X other than on their website. They're not my cuppa in either application. But they work.

Ya I’d for sure do it. The Zunsport looks good, and easier, but doesnt look as protective as the mishimoto. Never heard of that one, seems like a easier, less expensive option for sure!
I thought the same too but the mesh is pretty thick (not like the gutter guard ones) and should hold. The only weak point is the tabs that are attached to the mesh that holds the screw. Dont know how they would hold. The Mishimoto is certainly very sturdy and doubles as a skid plate too in addition to the oil cooler protection. If you are driving in an area with a lot of debris or around construction, I would go with the Mishimoto. If u just want some protection to the oil cooler in the off chance something hits it, then the Zunsport is a cheap but sturdy option.

Yea that’s what I like about Mishimoto it’s skid plate. Never know what kind of junk is on the highways. It’s very solid and the entire bottom is protected. I think Aalfred was just u lucky and got defective part. I don’t understand how aluminum can break in shipping. There was manufacturing defect with that one. U can’t just break it easily if they are throwing boxes around.

I thought so soo. Maybe something heavy was dropped on it. Was this piece welded on ur skid plate ? I didn’t see any welded joints and it was almost like the metal was cut and bent without any welded joints to make them sturdy. I can pop it back in but if the screw is supposed to be inserted into it don’t know how it’s gonna hold without welding. Maybe QI issues.

I have the front set on my 23 M2. They work well and are quite easy to install. Hi from Germany! I have the oil cooler screen to fit next. With so many critical cooling rads on any M-Car now one needs to protect them!

I ordered the Zunsport from Amazon. Had a $60 coupon. Looks like it has shipped from Great Britain.

My son works on BMW’s everyday and told me the Mishimoto quality has gone down recently and advised I go with the Zunsport. I’m fairly confident it will fit the G82. Might just have the dealer install since I don’t have a jack or jack stands anymore. Before anyone asks why I don’t have my son do it, he lives 600 miles away now😂

I think their shipping is pretty fast. I was suprised how close to the front lip the oil cooler is. If ur car isnt lowered, if u even raise it on a small ramp you will have enough clearance to install it. I hope given how small of a job it is, the dealership can do it for free

Amazon shows not available? Maybe they ran out of the product?
Looking forward for the install if you can share your thoughts!

Yup. It said 5 left when I ordered and this AM it said no longer available. I suspect it will be back but likely not with Prime free shipping. Guessing that was a mistake. At least for US folks.

Think I’ll just buy a cheap jack and 2 jackstands. The dealer will likely give me shit.

Harbor Freight has some cheap but good ones. Check out their coupons. Usually floor jacks r like $110 (Pitsburg brand) and the stands I got for $30 for a pair. Good luck

Forgive my ignorance since my G83 doesn't delivery until March. But don't you need special jack and jack stand adapters so it doesn't damage the jack points on our cars? Maybe someone can weigh in on that.

I think there are lifting pucks needed. I only think that because it looks like aftermarket sellers have them listed.

I threw my advisor $50 and the tech $50 and they did it for me. Cheaper than buying new jacks, stands and the pucks.

This set seems pretty cheap. Cheaper than giving 100 to the dealer.

I think they r a bit too high for the floor jack. U prob want a low profile one. But if u drive the car over a 2x4 then u should have enough clearance on the sides

Just a low profile jack and regular jack stands. There is an adaptor from Amazon that goes on the jack stands. Its a bit tricky fitting it onto the C shaped stands. When u r trying to lower ur car, the adapter can slip a bit so need someone to watch the other side if u r lifting it from the middle. But if u r gonna do a lot of work on stands, I would recommend the jack with the flat surface stands that are more expensive- like $80-100 for a pair from Harbor freight which is a knock off the Esco ones.
