Finally did it! Now the waiting game begins!

I was finally able to secure an allocation and place an order for a 2022 M4.

I was really back and forth between the base 6MT/ RWD and going full auto/ xdrive but in the end chose 6MT/RWD as in my mind this could be one of the last times that is offered.

I've wanted an M car since high school and have spent the last 10 years checking off the boxes all those that I couldn't afford then but am fortunate enough to now (Civic SI, WRX STi, S4, Wrangler, 4Runner). The last 2 are an M car and a GT3... one of those is obviously more a reality right now due to the state of allocations, therefore I went with the M car- so pumped to have a fun second car (to my 18 Expedition) that I can run through the gears but also have my 2 boys (4 and 1) come with me in the back!

Specs:

M4 Coupe
Brooklyn Gray
Fiona Red/ Black Full Merino Leather
19"/20" M Double Spoke Black Wheels style 826M
Carbon Fiber Trim
Carbon Exterior Package
M Carbon Bucket Seats
M Compound Brakes with Red Calipers
Icon Adaptive LED Headlights with Laserlight
Extended Shawodline Trim
M Shadowline Lights

I asked, he said hopefully sometime Oct-Nov timeframe but admitted it could be much faster or slower than that depending on how the supply chain issues play out.

Congrats man!

I too did the same last week. Was able to secure the "last allocation" for the 22 model at that particular dealer. Maybe just fake hype to get the sale but hey i wanted the car anyway so i went over there as soon as i heard 1 allocation left.

Also went with the brooklyn grey with fiona red interior and black wheels. Went with the M3 comp though.

It was funny cause after i left the dealer, about 1 minute later i saw a brooklyn grey M4 speed past me. That color looks incredible in person. Pictures and video do not do it's justice.

EDIT: Dealer also said october'ish i can expect to have the car though. He said could be sooner but he rather tell me october so that way i won't get mad if it doesn't come in september lol. Yes he really said that.

My exact same situation, I was on waitlist for the m3 allocations and hadn't heard anything yet so just bit the bullet and went with this. Its a third car for us, with the other 2 being SUV's I'm good with 2 door/ rwd/ 6mt!

Same here.
Dealer said it's a September build... I guess it'll be sitting on this state for quite some time.
Not sure how I could survive the wait lol

Did you guys have to pay a dealer markup for ordering?

The last allocation for a '22?! What? Production just started on the 2022s. The next allocations will be for the 2023s with production starting in July 2022?

This can't be correct.

He probably means the last allocation that dealer currently had.

lol yeah that's what i was thinking.

I know he was probably just saying that to get me in the door so he can make the sale but i wanted that car anyway so whether he was bluffing or not, if i couldn't get it there i would've went to another dealer to get the car. I used to do sales too for over 10 years and i used that same form of tactics before.

Although as we were doing the build he did ask me if i was interested in getting an x-drive and i said a big NO. So i assume there were allocations for that?

The allocations are flexible. You could've chosen AWD or RWD. Makes no difference; there aren't separate allocations.

The M3 and M4 are separate however.

Oh. It's ok if i got got lol. I wanted the car. Didn't want x-drive, didn't want the M4. Got the deal i wanted. No markup. If anything i got a discount. Everything worked out perfectly.

Only thing that sucks is waiting about 2 months to get the car.

What about base(6MT) vs. Comp?
I got a call from another dealer before saying they have an allocation for the Comp but can't be switched to the base model.

No, mine was at MSRP.
$800 doc fee seemed kinda high, but I agreed given the current market.

Dealer is incorrect. MY21 could not be flexed between base and comp, but MY22 can be. They either are misinformed or don't want to sell you a less expensive car.

Thanks for the info.
By the tone of the sales manager, I’m guessing he was simply misinformed.
Either way, it’s all good cuz I got another allocation from a different dealer.

No markup- MRSP less a small discount from a corporate program (think it was $500 or $1000 can't remember).

Wait how long does it take for the order or some type of acknowledgement to show up on the website?

It's been roughly 10 or 11 days and it still says, "you currently have no vehicles in production".

When will the dealer at least send me the production number (i know it's too early for a VIN?)?

Great question, I was told I have a allocation and no production number yet.
