Can't disable auto start/stop in my car

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Having issues with the automatic start/stop feature in the car. I have a 2023 m3 Xdrive. Cars ECU is unlocked and has aftermarket exhaust. Recently got my car back from having customROM added and when I got my car back I can no longer deactivate the automatic start/stop feature in my car. The designated button does not turn off the feature. I’ve tried multiple times pressing the button and it does nothing. Car will activate the feature every time I come to a stop and it’s just simply annoying to deal with.

Car worked fine in the past and was able to switch the start/stop feature with the button no issues. Any ideas on what could cause this issue? Tuner suggested it might not actually be the auto start/stop feature off but something to do with the exhaust valves filtering the noise for some reason when idling at a stop.

Sounds like a problem with your tune.

I would find out from FEMTO or BM3, but why not just disable it via BM3, if that’s what you’re using? There’s an option for that I believe.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? /s

I'd be surprised if an exhaust issue prevented deactivation of start/stop. I've heard of drivetrain or battery issues preventing stop/start from activating, not the other way around. I know you already reached out to your tuner, it sounds like their work likely impacted it. Does the start/stop happen now even when the car is not up to temp? Is start/stop disabled in all M modes?

I would try BimmerCode. There is a setting for it there also.

Not sure about G8x but when I had my G20 M340i, I won’t be able to disable the AS/S with Bimmer Code after an software update.

Only speaking of cars that have not been coded/unlocked, I’ve been able to use BimmerCode to code Auto Start/Stop to off in my sister’s X3 and my cousin’s X7. In the G8X it can be coded to stay off, but the car should also remember to stay in the last used position by default (at least it’s been that way in all my M cars).

That’s good to know, thanks for clarifying!
