Bootmod3 REV2 Board Announcement - New Video
video link
Video showing our G80 M3 running REV2, more to follow.. 🔸What's a REV2 board? The FIRST and ONLY automotive aftermarket ECU with FlexRay™ protocol support providing standalone ECU features such as DIRECT port fuel injector control, boost solenoid control among many others as well as adding an expansive list of sensor inputs to supplement tuning abilities like never before, while running on a High-performance 32-bit Power Architecture MCU for Automotive Applications. 🔸What do you mean DIRECT control? DIRECT, pulse width modulation (PWM) using spare outputs on the factory DME repurposed for REV2 use, courtesy of bootmod3 CustomROM. 🔸Why not CANBus? We wanted direct control, without overhead and potential loss of messages that may happen over CANBus. Factory DME uses PWM control for fuel injectors, so does the REV2. 🔸What the heck is FlexRay™? FlexRay is a next-gen automotive communications protocol. It addresses many shortcomings of CANBus while being designed to ensure high data rates, fault tolerance and ability to guarantee message delivery. Google it 🔸What is different between running this and an off the shelf standalone ECU? Tuning done in one place and integration. Once REV2 is installed, you never connect to it again. Your tuner makes a map in bootmod3 editor as usual, you flash it, and off you go. 🔸What other outputs can it control? Any PWM device (e.g. nitrous solenoid, meth solenoid, fuel pump, etc). 🔸What sensors can it handle? Any 0-5v analog or digital sensors, including 2 EGT inputs, pre-configured. 🔸Is it water resistant? Yes! REV2 has an IP66 water resistant enclosure for convenience of engine bay install. 🔸When, when, when? REV2 board is ready. CustomROM V2 software release ETA Q2 2024! 🔸What cars will be supported? All bootmod3 CustomROM supported vehicles. Releases will be staged with S58 support coming first, followed by the rest of the vehicle platforms currently on CustomROM (B58, S55, N55, and others).

Yes, because if they’re using unused inputs/outputs of the stock Bosche ECU, the low level stuff most likely needs to change on it to allow for this. If FEMTO won’t come off the unlock process, they’re not going to give away how they’re gaining low level firmware rewrite access. Even if it’s not this involved and low level, the memory addressing structure needs to change since new pins are being used… I assume… I haven’t watched the vid to even see how they’re connecting it to the DME harness.

How the fuck does BM3 develop a product that requires an additional unlock trip to FEMTO but FEMTO has ZERO knowledge of what’s going on?! Actually, I’m not surprised. Last time I asked even BM3 a question, I got 3 different answers and one of them was a stupid robot employee constantly asking for a VIN. 🙄 |

my experience when trying to track down an issue between customrom, xhp and femto is that there is absolutely minimal communication between the companies, they do not know (or care) what the others are doing. But to be fair here, femto wouldn't be concerned with rev2, it's customromV2 that they will need, and i imagine when it's ready BM3 will simply provide them with the updated software which femto will just start applying in place of customromV1 at the time of the unlock.

Rev2 will be released in a few months (end of Q2 according to PTF assuming no delays.. which there probably will be) and your DME, if it is there right now, will not get it.

Knew it would be released soon... just picked up my car over the weekend, single turbo Motive controlled lol
Curious if it's worth switching. I'd have to send ECU, purchase Rev2 and get re-tuned again..

This vs MHD+ would be an interesting comparison. The absolute biggest thing for me here is port injection safety. No worst feeling than thinking "what if the injectors don't open up during a pull" lol

Are those reflex things failing higher then expected? Think one person on here said it failed and ruined his motor. Can't imagine anyone buying it after that happening.
