Jon Shafer (Bimmerfest founder) at BMW of Santa Maria gets my vote. Straight MSRP deal and no mark up on APR/MF. Great guy and provided excellent communications throughout the whole process. Finance dept was a breeze as well, signing took less than 15 minutes as they didn't try to sell any additional product. They're 3 hours north of LA and not too far of a drive from the Bay Area, wouldn't hesitate to buy again in the future. As far as I know the waitlist isn't too deep but they are a smaller dealer so allocations may be harder to come by.

I also worked with Dave Townsend at BMW Of Murrieta. Nice gentleman, easy to work with as well however his dealer is doing mandatory add-ons of tint and door edge guards ($499) so not a true MSRP deal. I'd rather go with my choice of tint/film rather than dealer's choice so in the end I went with Santa Maria.

I highly recommend Peter Pan bmw in San Mateo. Got me an allocation in 2 months. They take a $1k deposit which I just mailed to them at time of order. They don't deposit the check, nor will they deposit it even if you cancel. No mark up either. I placed my order through Eugene

If you're from SoCal it'll help add those miles for the break in to!

My experience with Jon wasn’t that great. He wanted to charge me an extra $2500 (then an extra $5000) for an individual color. It was pretty disappointing given I reached out to him specifically since he was the Bimmerfest founder and adding to the community.

I ended up going with Leo at BMW Mountain View (I’m in SF) who’s been great (at MSRP, though I think the financing rate is .5% above BMWFS).

I worked with JC. Got on the order bank end of August, then allocation on 9/28 and started production 10/28. Were in transit to PH as of today, and should get delivery before Christmas.

I told those pricks at mountain view I would write them a check at MSRP and they wouldn't budge from 10k over. Kept calling me back trying to get me to pay 10k over. Fuck them.

Telling them you will write a check doesn't help - it hurts you. They make more on financing or lease. You are better off saying you will decide based on rates when you pick up. You can always write a check at pickup

He was over his head and lost the allocation.
Wait a few months and they will be selling closer to invoice.

Everyone has been saying that for months, yet here everyone is still fighting to get an allocation...

'selling closer to invoice' would require dealers to have some just sitting around waiting. Not happening anytime soon.

I just got my car from Weatherford Berkeley BMW, I personally worked with Jimmy Tu and Sue Luo. This is a truly a NO BS dealership, MSRP as is ( no hidden fees or other nonsense ). Getting the allocation is key but its definitely worth the wait.
I did most paperwork and signed online, and in and out of dealership in 20 min.
They have 2 M4 available in stock in their show room if you want to check it out.
Here is my breakdown:

Call in to get inline - June
allocation - 9/28
production start 10/23 , scheduled 11/04
exterior assembly - 11/01
paint -11/02
left factory - 11/04
arrived in US - 12/17
took delivery - 12/23
