Really? Monet over Picasso? Not so sure about that.
I think it points to the same thing, you're more conservative than radical in your taste.

I'll take a Picasso any day of the week over a Monet
As would other people too I'm sure. Well there you go. That was just an example. This question is subjective and has no correct answer.

Both are well-respected artists, however Picasso's art was not as understood by the masses however they still sell. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Talking about radical design and braking tradition. Symmetry is something many struggle to deviate from but not our hero or anti-hero Bangle...his latest multi million creation a big Italian yacht has the cabin offset...the starboard has a traditional deck between the cabin and the hull while the port side is flush with the hull. Chew on that and see what you think?

The SL102 is amazing. Completely changes the experience for the better. Makes my Riva feel like a Sea Ray.

Sounds nice.. I can appreciate/respect your views but you are missing the point, which is art and/or design is subjective so there is no argument here.

Not sure the masses are buying multi-million dollar Italian yachts anyway. (can't chew gristle .

If you use lifts or park in tight spots and need to roll the car a bit, the handbrake is so much better. With electronic brake you need to start up the car to move it at all, even just an inch, wait, press, wait, move, press wait, it is very tedious in this type of setting. The feeling is completely unnatural with a manual transmission.
Also a great way to melt you rear pads onto the rotors. The F80 had a separate drum brake for the handbrake that was safe to use at the track when the rear rotors were superheated.

I can only imagine how many forum members lost their shit when the S1000RR was released in 2009...still sold like hotcakes though because it set a new performance standard.

Second generation (2019) is symmetrical again so there's something to look forward to for some of you.

I like the first gen better. It was unique/distinct. The new RR doesn't look as good to me......like Ducati's without single sided swing arms.

Yes, Tamburinis single sided design was just perfection as the rest of the 996. One of the most perfectly designed vehicles ever. So simple, so effective (Fogarty was good but the 996 was the real star) and stunningly beautiful.

This is probably how I will feel looking at this car for the first time. So many design elements that flat out not only don't look good, but just don't seem to make sense from a design perspective.
Not intended to be hyper-critical, not intended to flame the G8x, not intended to stir up any emotions. Just trying to be impartial. Some design elements look killer on it - the sideskirts, for 1 are just about perfect on the car. The rear actually looks much less JDM than I had feared, and it's a fairly clean and cohesive design no doubt from the leading edge of the rear wheel arches through the back bumper. I don't like the door design on the G30's, and there's not much they can do to bring me into the 'like it' camp, so liking the side profile is a big leap for me already.

The front though. When people are saying, 'it wont be too bad in black', or 'it will grow on you, just wait', or 'it's not as bad as I thought' - those are all losing statements. Of course, with most cars there is one or two colors that are just the tits on the body - but having only one color making the design acceptable to the buyer in question is a far cry from that first color situation.

I've been at the buyers table before with 3 or 4 color choices, unable to decide which one would leave me coming back for more after 2 or 3 years - but that's not what I'd be staring at the face of (HAAA) with this order spec. Matter of fact, this is the same place I am at right now with my next arrival - trying to decide my final spec and paint color. But I've got 3 that I think will all look great on the car itself. One is by far my preferred front-runner, but there's a not-insignificant sum of money between that choice and myself; for my F80, I decided to spend it; for the next one I don't think I am. If Porsche pricing were = to BMW's it would be a paint to sample car, but not for 18k+..

With the F8x, I loved 3 colors, but really wanted the car in a blue - and Yas Marina did not do it for me. I'd have been thrilled with an Austin Yellow car, a Sahkir Orange one, a Tanzanite one, an Alpine White one, or a Mineral Grey one. They all look great, while presenting the lines very differently. There was no 'the car needs to be in this color for me to get past the styling' equation to worry about. And - besides the masochists, who the hell wants a black car?

Maybe some of you can ignore the look when spending this coin, but I cannot. I'm not one to shy away from big ticket auto purchases, but the total package must be delivered for me to pony up - this one just won't do it for me. I'm sure there will be those who drool over it, and to them, all the more power; I hope you find the perfect car for your tastes in the G80.
Strong points and hard to argue. I currently LOVE my F80 M3 comp and wouldn't even think twice about moving to the next gen M3...until I saw the preview...and until I drove the 992 Carrera S...
I'll wait for official specs and info ...but if I can, save more coin and go back to Porsche (had a Cayman S) ...
We all shall see!

Ask me any questions.
My opinion- Overall looks good. Seems to address some of the exterior/interior design issues/insteps of F80. Did not make enough impression like F80 did.
Front grill looks good and nothing ugly. No power dome. Carbon package and exhaust look great. Wheels look great way better than anything stock on F80.
Headlights (laser) is work of art and really impressive.
For expected 80k, I will pass.

Yes, two-tone with black. However the orange is not like Tropicana drink. It is more like gold brown. I liked it. Exterior was green so the colors worked well. I am sure there will be other combo options including all black interior.

19/20s are code 178 on the launch M4s. Not sure if there is an 18/19 option, but I would guess there would be.

I suppose there wasn't as much interest with the DC event, on the forums at least. No G8x in Foxboro, so I'm guessing nothing here either since it wasn't a full UDE? I suppose they travel a bit light for the 3 day events.

Probabaly market dependent based on BMW NA marketing data of M ownership in the large metro areas, such as NY metro, SoCal, Texas, etc. Not worth the ROI expense of transport and security for the G80/G82 at the smaller events.
