More CSL / 992 GT3 fun. I'm guessing this is bmw_m_collector but don't know for sure.

"It reeks of being a convenient marketing opportunity from the same tone-deaf product planning department that brought you the XM" unfortunately seems to a theme these days

Fortunately BMW has been ignoring the steering wheel complaints of these journalists otherwise we'd have this if folks like Achilles had their way

The one from bmw_m_collector was featured in the AutoTopNL walkaround/Autobahn video and had a german license plate; this one does not (UK plate? not sure, but it's not german).

What makes you think there will be a G87CSL?

In which case they would have done a CSL with the last one. |

BMW changing the C in CSL from it's original "Coupe" to "Competition" indicates to me they're preparing for a broad marketing bastardization of the designation. I hope that is not the case.

The current thinking at M seems to be: approx. 50kg weight reduction -> CS. And approx 100kg weight reduction -> CSL (of course, plus all the other stuff). So it's relative to the (base M) car's weight, not some "if it is < 1650 kg, it's a CSL" total weight thing. The F87 M2 is complicated due to the Competition having a different engine for emissions regulations and the F87 M2 Competition was apparently originally supposed to be a CS, while a CSL was planned that would ultimately become the CS. But those plans were shattered when they had to replace the base model with an S55 engine based car so both models had to come down one step in the ladder. They both look like a lot of fun! The GT3 definitely had the measure of the CSL on track - but on the straights the CSL is ballistic!
