Hi!
Here’s my question…anyone here who has installed new intakes (I’m considering the Burger Tuning or the Kies Motorsport) to their G8x has had any issues with the car’s warranty?
Does it void any part or does it void it completely (if at all)?
I asked my service advisor and he didn’t have an answer. He was going to forward the question to service manager, but haven’t heard from them as of yet.
Thanks.

From what I heard from my SA, if you do a aftermarket intake, and something happens, the manufacture level will void the engine warranty if they can prove that the intake caused a malfunction, its really up to you if you want to do that, but also at the same time you can just put it back to stock

If the manufacturer wanted to, they could void a warranty with just about any modifications if they are related to the failure. It’s true they have the responsibility to prove the modification did, or substantially contributed to, the failure.

But this means vehicle inspections and long delays in getting your car back from the dealer, lawyers, etc that the OEM can afford much easier then many of us. All while your car is not fixed.

So it’s always a gamble, but consider the risk. I think the risk is low that air filters would cause any issues. Except for maybe the ones in the grille that could suck in water, but still quite low.

If something breaks they will blame it on any mod they see. That's why I like the top mount intakes, easier to install and replace to stock.

If your upgrades cause damage to the car, do not expect the dealership to fix it for free.

The air intakes are safe upgrades and won't cause any damage, so you have nothing to worry about.

Every dealership and every tech / SA handles it differently depending on your relationship with them.. Some will tell you upfront to remove the part to avoid any issues when replacing the parts needed while others will just say they cant fix it due to an aftermarket part. Ultimately prepare to go to a local shop to do small maintenance work to avoid the dealership.

What he said.
I can’t imagine any severe engine damage this intake would cause unless you fill the intake tubes with screws and nails before you put it on.

I keep my OEM parts and I would put them back on if I ever have a catastrophic failure that I’m looking to get covered under warranty just to avoid any issues
