Giulia QV to M3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
in 2018 , coming from Focus RS . I went looking for a bigger more comfortable sport sedan. Did a back to back drive and end up with an Alfa QV vs M3C . Unfortunately during that time there was no inventory of 6MT and it was the end of life for F80.
dont get me wrong. all those sport sedan are quick... just difference feel. Alfa just took my heart away.

Moving forward. Earlier this year. Got our first BMW. (alway been audi, Mercedes, rover). 2021 X3m40i. and it took me for a suprise.
wow.....

3 months later. got an itch for 6mt again, yesterday. only option is CT4v-B or M3. at beginning.. OMG hated hated hated the front end.
I told myself, it about the car. not the looks. and I decided to check it out yesturday. allow and solo test drive 6mt. It just felt so good I end up buying.. BTW the test drive took longer than the sale. LOL

Wife comments "You should not be buying a sport car if it is NOT 6mt". It was a joy to her when she found out it is MT.

It took me 20 year, 3 attempts (E39 M5, E46, F80) to buy M car.

My first ever M-Car...

Congrats and looks great. I'm currently driving a 2020 Giulia QV as well and am deciding if I want to wait for AWD to pull the trigger on a G80.

I haven't been able to drive a G80 at all yet, so I'm curious to hear your feedback as it relates/compares to your QV. Mind posting some initial feedback?

Thanks and enjoy!

Congrats! How have you found reliability on the QF? I love the look of them but have heard horror stories of Alfa's in general and have never had the balls to pull the trigger

at 23k mile.. never has a problem. it been piggyback tuned also.. quick as hell..smooth... I would keep it. but there was 2 factor to the switch. I wanted a 6mt again.. and my friend dealership paid off the lease dollars.

truthfully, the Alfa is so beautifully , it has the Italian flare that the German can not do....
dont know if I am going to regret it.

I've had my Alfa for 2.5 years and haven't had a single issue with it. I guess maybe the OP and I are just lucky, but there are a lot of folks on the Alfa forums with similar experiences so it's up to the individual to determine if they are willing to roll the dice. For me, I knew I wouldn't keep it outside of the warranty period so I didn't have any issues buying one and I've really enjoyed it.

OP, curious to hear if you feel like the G80 feels as "alive" and light on its feet as the QV does...

PS, as an aside, the G80 interior blows the Alfa interior out of the water.

I’m in a 2018 Stelvio QF now and on list for a 2022 M3 AWD. Wife has a X3M Comp. Only 8,700 on the Alfa. Never been in the shop except for oil change. Anyway, I will miss the steering feel on the Alfa.

I like your style

I'm still inside break in miles but so far I love it!
Kinda killing me to keep it under 5k RPM though

It's great to see so many people new to the brand.

So many people declared the M3 dead last summer/fall because, you know, grille.

Please please give a breakdown comparing it to the Alfa!

I'm most interested in knowing which has the quickest steering!

Makes sense - thanks!

I really wish they made the Alfa with a stick, but they don't, so here I am.

Indeed, I agree. Love to see other enthusiasts migrating over to BMW for the G8X series.

BMW has designed a helluva car, such solid performance and a really good interior, especially with those amazing carbon bucket seats. I drive the car too much on long trips to get those awesome seats, so instead I got full leather. Love that we have the choices to fit our specific needs.

I'll give BMW credit where credit is due...in the last 3 cycles of M3s, they came out with some wildly controversial changes. They have never stood pat, and just "evolved" the M. Each change of cycle, they ripped up the old sheet, and redefined what an M could be.

From the E4X to the E9X, the huge change with a V8 engine...left many past enthusiasts cold.

From the E9X to the F8X, huge change with the torquey twin turbo inline-6...leaving a lot of enthusiasts cold.

And now from the F8X to the G8X, again, BMW completely rethought the definition of an M3 through its design, a new tranny, and maybe even through a thoroughly upgraded interior, and those SEATS!!! ...yet still holding on to the raucous essence of an M3. Of course history is repeating itself, many past enthusiasts are up in arms.

To BMW, I have to applaud your chutzpah.
