I think San Marino looks much more special than Gentian. Portimao is nowhere close to powder blue. It’s more of a medium blue. Powder blue is like Porsche’s Miami blue or BMW’s Yas Marina blue which IMO sucks in real life.

My favorite blue right now is probably the shark blue on the new GT3.

Nice car and Nice color. But a special car needs a special color. Not something readily available on a 330i. Would definately do Tanzanite Blue metallic for the extra $1,950. Maybe even splurge and try for San Marino Blue or Citrin Black metallic (if they would approve it) for $5,000.

BMW should bring back Avus Blue - exclusively just for one model year!

Great build. The G8x M3/4 looks significantly different than the standard 3 and 4 Series compared to previous generations. The seats are just awesome. I'm curious to hear thoughts and views on how they fair against daily driving / stop and go short distance driving after a few thousand miles.

I'd rule out specing an M car with standard non M range color... just because i see this color all the time everywhere on base 3 series...

I don't get why people say they wouldn't pick the color because it is also available on the regular 3/4 series...who cares.
You have to like the look of your own car, i couldn't care less what other people think.

Lovely color. I think it's a bit underrated, especially with all the amazing BMW blues out there, but in person it looks excellent. Couldn't care less that it's a factory color for the executive 3 series. Does that mean Alpine White is no good? BSM? Mineral Grey looked *killer* on the F8x cars, even though I had the same color on my F31. People crack me up

Let me explain it : i dont want my M3 looking like a 3 series without aero. Is it "snob" ? Do i miss the point being performance and handling ? Yes i do. But i think M cars deserve to have a lil bit of exclusivity.

That being said its just a personal choice and i respect yours 100%. I think Portimao Blue is a gorgeous color.

I get your point but be sure you will recognize an M3 from miles, plus point for the grill !

Except the doors and the rear lights there is like nothing shared with the G20 (exterior) so don't worry about that, the M3 will look like the M3.

Also, there are plenty of exclusive color for the M's, just no blue...

From the side this thing looks like it's lifted. That side skirt is not flattering.

I agree with others that this blue looks the same as that available on the pedestrian 3-series models. I wouldn't get a color shared with non-M cars, whether that makes me a snob or not I don't care.

I find it funny all of us are all "special m color" and most people in real world just call it red green or blue. It really comes down to just what looks
Good to you not some fancy exclusive name or shade .

For example...They make a Chevy Sonic in light blue very close to Yas Marina ...does that make YM stupid ? No .

Pretty good looking 330i here.

I'd pay money to get this paint on my M3 order.

PB was at the top of my "regular color" list until I decided to go custom. None of the other standard colors really excited me. Up until my last 2 M4's, 9 of my last 11 cars had been white. The only ones that weren't were the grey Grand Cherokee I bought off my dad and a silver Civic I had to get because they didn't make white that year. I had never had a car as nice as the M4. I had worked hard and was doing well enough to afford one. It was a special car to me. I decided that if I was going to get that nice of a car that I was going to get one of the M specific colors and YMB it was. I loved the color, it got a ton of compliments (even from the guy in the $400k Aventador that stopped and got out specifically to talk to me about it) and in 4 years I think I maybe saw 4 other YMB cars.

So, I strongly considered PB. While it's a beautiful color I loved having the very unique YMB. PB is very similar to Estoril that has been around for years and thus it seemed a little more mundane me. So for those reasons I decided to spend the extra to get the custom color this time around.

Really think the M3 carries the look much better than the M4.

I have no issue with someone wanting an M-specific color and having that as a requirement for color selection, all the power to you. I take issue (and I think some other people feel the same) with the implication that buying an M with a shared color makes the car unworthy. There is so much more to this car than just the color. M is about performance. If you prefer a unique color for your own enjoyment great, if you live in fear that someone else will make a snarky comment that your M is not a bespoke color, then you need to check your motivations for buying this car. M is a club like any other, but it's not Rolls-Royce.

After spending ages going through the all the blues in the Individual programme came to the same conclusion and ordered a San Marino M4 Comp last week. Following years of owning M’s in greys and Blacks, hoping it’s gonna look good in SMB.

Had a Monte Carlo Blue M5 back in the day. Was nice and unique but my other M cars have been standard colors: BSM and MWM. Cars still popped and got/gets compliments.

Color is certainly a factor but there's more to an M car than just paint IMO.
