Manual M4 Review by Brian Makse
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com He did a review of the old F82 and GT4 race car and has a lot of experience on the track, so he's got a good basis to judge G82. Good dose of reality for all of us

Great review; echoes all of the good things I've observed.
It's important to note that he drove the car with the chassis set to Comfort instead of the much more aggressive Sport Plus (clearly visible in the video). Sport Plus makes a big difference in how the car feels in the turns. All of that extra movement he's talking about is almost completely tuned out in Sport Plus. Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire did the same thing. Should be a good sign for those who have yet to drive it that he raved about practically everything else - the grip, steering, powerband, 6-speed gearing, and braking all were rated highly by Brian. BTW, if you're going 6-speed, you can easily keep the MSRP under $85k and even under $80k if you don't need the CF buckets. Knock off a few more bucks for G80. Amazing, amazing value. |

Enthusiast spec: $80k Dealer spec: $90k Review/Loaded: $100k+ Pretty much what you would have found on F8X. Many non-CS models were hitting $90k+ which was pretty ludicrous IMO

Then I noticed the same thing you did - he's evaluating the handling in the mode specifically designed to _not_ be about handling. I will never understand this - it takes time and effort for him to make these videos, but then he doesn't take the extra 3 minutes to make sure he's actually evaluating the car at its best. |

Before you had this kind of middle ground with the DCT, missing the involvement of the Manual but querky and not as smooth as a true Auto. I think now people will be happier with there choice be it one or the other, they are more definitive.

So for reference, this was his review for F8X & the GT4. Cool to see the GT4 up close, and a good preview of some of the things that the upcoming G82 GT3 will have going (but will be more extreme due to GT3 class rather than GT4). This isn't a pro F8X or anti G8X post, but I feel like people probably need some context on where this guy is coming from

What's his deal? He's complaining about body roll driving in Comfort suspension? Why not put slippers on and complain about brake feel?

SAVE THE MANUALS!!
But actually, don't go buy this one... one of the few remaining performance cars on the market offering a manual. And a truly rewarding car to drive... Pretty terrible job of being an "advocate" for the MT

Fair review in terms of his overall feedback.
While i got a 6MT (personal choice for the engagement it provides) his argument is quite fair about extracting the best from the car. It isnt a car where the NEED for a manual is obvious vs. an automatic and frankly with these turbo powered engines of course going to be marginally slower... that said, agree with others it may have been helpful if he actually reviewed the different modes (as he did with the braking) to give a feel for how the driving dynamic changed...

I wonder if he is in comfort mode because he is filming. Not to say he tested in comfort mode. Because he doesn't want the camera to be shaking. Plus he needs to concentrate on what he is saying while driving. He may only be driving at 5/10ths while filming.
