That's 1660kg. This is the lightest M4 configuration, but all things considered that's not bad: Shelby 350 is 1733kg and Camaro SS 1LE is 1699kg (according to caranddriver), and both were designed before stricter safety regulations came into effect. Also those older cars probably don't have as much bracing and structural reinforcement.

I wonder how much lighter then M4 is compared to the M3. Heard the automatic only adds 50 lbs.

That is not bad at all considering how much standard equipment there is on the G8x platform. Everyone crying about 4K lb weight just needs to pay attention to their build.

Light weight spec would include 18/19 wheels, carbon ceramic brakes which OP doesn't have so this is very promising. We knew the 4000Lbs was fake news, par for the course these days.

I don't think you can do CCBs and 18/19s.

Interestingly, BMWBLOG in late September spread the fake news weight.

Good if true, but it doesn't appear straightforward. OP has a one off light G82 or are the scales (in)correct? If the G82 weighs 3660 lbs with OP's G82's specs, I would have expected M to show this off from the outset.
1805 kg (3,971 lbs) according to Autoexpress

I think any time we discuss weights, they should be adjusted for a full tank of fuel. Otherwise you get misleading numbers posted on the front page like this.

It should be 40-60lbs but even that 50% range is not reliable in my experience. I’ve had cars that in reality are close to 3/4 full when the gauge show 1/2... |

Autoexpress didn't actually weigh the car, was just regurgitating BMW. Not to mention that's a comp which is 50 pounds heavier. The scale I used was recently certified by the state as accurate, so it's not the scale. Full of fuel it should weigh around 3710

That is very surprising considering BMW themselves were the one's saying that it would weigh closer to 4K lbs. It's not "fake news" as the car media was told specifically by BMW that this is how much the car is going to weigh.
I for one am really glad that the car is this light. Even if you aren't a fan of it, it at least lets us know that BMW M has the car's weight as a target. So if you're waiting on the next M2 or whatever, stuff like this should give you hope. So I for one thank the OP for posting this.

Looks like about 135-155bs extra compared to similarly equipped F82 M4 (3525 for M/T with half a tank of fuel) https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1023335
Carbon bucket seats (9.6kg weight savings) negate the extra weight of bigger wheels Question to OP: what GVWR numbers does it say on the door card? Picture of it would be cool. Last edited by XsltAnalyst; 04-02-2021 at 01:02 PM.. |

The other aspect is that the G8X does in fact weigh more than the F8X. I know that when I have a passenger in my car, the dynamics shift. So yes, you're going to feel a difference between the cars if you're on track or even spirited driving. However, in like 70% of the time when you're not driving like an A-hole, I honestly don't think you'll notice any difference at all.

The weight of new M4 remains within a reasonable range given all the options a typical buyer will select.
