Anyone else here in the US have any luck with OEM size winter tires purchased this year? It's getting awfully close to snow season here in CO and I'm not really excited about storing another set of wheels/tires in 19 squared.
Best to go with DWS AS if you are trying to avoid having to avoid new rims. If you see a lot of snow like I do, best to go with a square setup. I'm on 827ms with PA5's.

Gents - if you are looking for a winter set of OEM rims + OEM size tires in 19/20"- I have a set for sale.

The tires are brand new - I ended up trading the car in a few weeks ago and the rims/tires never made it to their first winter.

The link is here: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2049671

I'm in Canada but can ship to the USA (and guarantee no taxes/duties on arrival via UPS).

Cheers

Today I bit the bullet and ordered the factory winter wheel and tire package from my local dealer. 826M wheels in black with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. The total cost with tax was $4.8k.

I didn’t want to run all seasons in NY and didn’t love the idea of the Pirelli Sottozero Serie II in 275/35/19 and 275/30/20.

Plus, now I’ll have an extra set of wheels to play with. Maybe I’ll put Cup 2s on them one day and track them.

I'm in the Boston area, anticipating driving in snow, so would prefer to use a narrower tire in the winter. Does anyone have any experience with 245/40R19 as a snow tire? Does it fit properly? Does it fail cosmetically if you don't use spacers?

Depends on the wheels, I got some 8.5" wheels with +25 offset and that size of tires, the front will look ok but the back might need some spacers.

+1 to forcefed's note. Its going to be dependent on the width and offset of the wheel you spec.

This car is using 19x9.5 et25 square on our SM-10s with wider tires than you plan to use and they still needed spacers front and rear to push the wheels back out to an OE range:

Getting my '24 M3 Comp XDrive delivered sometime between 12/15 and 12/31. First thing I need to do is put either A/S or Winters on it. Leaning A/S.

Want to keep stock OEM setup.

TireRack says that setup is:

FRONT 275/35ZR19 100Y XL
REAR 285/30ZR20 99Y XL

Can someone confirm that this is the proper setup?

Oh and 1 more thing. Can someone comment on the tread wear comparison between the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 and the Cont ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus?

I've heard the Conti's, although great tires, wear incredibly fast. True? False?

Around $4800 with tax. Mounted, balanced, TPMS. Star marked Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 in OEM staggered 19/20 sizes. Took a few biz days for dealer to receive.

Just to add to many here:

I do not drive much in the winter but I have the option to. Even if i had to, my car is low to the point that any tire made to drive in deeper snow wouldn’t make sense for me

I went with the Conti A/S

I just wanted to add a disclaimer for when you all switch. I have been switching tires for many many years and this was a first for me and wanted to share.

CHECK the install after they are done.

I had a BMW dealer do my winter switch to the oem rims. They put my 20s on the right side and 19s on the left. Don’t trust that even a BMW service center knows what they are doing.

Just some advice.

Hey Gents,

Has anyone found stock G80 comp wheel winter tires online yet? I know Michelin came out with a new one last year, but finding especially the rear size, 285/30/r20 has been impossible. I’m trying to avoid calling my local dealer so just wondering if any of you in my situation have had any luck?

Just received mine also. Not a fun cost, but great to be prepared for Swedish winter.

What’s the hesitation with the Sottozeros? Thx!

I couldn’t find the rears in stock 285 width, only 275 at the time. Another forum member did find the 285s at United tires.

Yah I ended up buying the 285/30/20 on United Tires and the 275/35/19’s from my dealership.

The fronts are designated “MO” for Mercedes and the backs are designated “ALP”. Unmounted the 275’s are a lot wider than the 285’s. I hope it’s okay for an xDrive. I mean they are the correct sizes even though different designations.

275’s are on the bottom in the pic below.
