Haven’t been here in awhile, but I had the Michelin Alpin 5 winters put on (on OEM 19’s front and rear) and they are superb. Much quieter and more cush than the summer Pirellis that it came with.

Putting them on a set of satin bronze super speed wheels in et10 to clear the ccbs. Should be a killer look, hopefully mounted by this time next week!
I ordered the exact same setup—same Blizzak tires from Tire Rack and RF05RR 19x9.5 ET10 satin rims. I’ll have mine mounted by the end of the month.

Just drove hours to Fargo and back in snow and ice. Michelin Alpin 5s. The tires were unbelievable and really nice on the dry days as well. If you live and drive in the snow don't lie to yourself and say all seasons are good enough. Go to tire rack and look at the testing. Get a wheel tire combo and change them out in fifteen minutes yourself. If you never had real winter tires wait for a snow day and you will be amazed.

APEX. Two wheels are available: VS-5RS or SM-10. Here is a guide on G8x M3/M4 figments. Scroll to the bottom for winter setup.

https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

Here is a link to their site for G8x wheels.

https://www.apexraceparts.com/shop-b...g8x-m3-m4.html

SUPERSPEED wheels can be found at their website, or an aftermarket seller called Wheelsco. The wheels are RF05RR. 19x9.5 ET25 5x112 CB 66.6. Also, 19x9.5 ET10 5x112 CB66.6 can be used with some tires (with the wrong tires, you can get some rubbing on the wheel well). According to one of the technicians, he says:

“With the +10 offset the 275/35R19 would be compatible however the tires would need to be something in a performance winter or southern European winter design as anything with a squared off Nordic style shoulder design has given us rubbing issues on the +10et. If you know your tire model I'd be happy to verify for you.”

https://store.superspeedwheels.com/p...39511153868958

At wheelsco.ca, you can also buy Superspeed wheels. You can buy either the wheels alone, or a wheels/winter tire compatible setup. Here is the winter package setup. There are two options on tire size that they offer: 275/35R19 or 245/40R19. Note that there are winter wheels/tire packages for many other models in addition to the G8x.

For wheels alone, you can navigate to that part of the website.

https://wheelsco.ca/collections/bmw-...cts/bmwm3g80wp

TPMS
There are many places you can go for this. I bought mine at TPMS dot com. They claim that these are the same as the OEM.

https://*********/BMW-OEM-Schrader-T.../s8238-bmw.htm. (Note, there is a glitch and can’t get tpms dot com to appear in the this post. Just go to the site if interested)

Code Item

[Valve Stem Option (SCH):Black Metal Valve Stem]

As for the final product, I’m expecting my G80 to be delivered by the end of the month, so I can’t share the final result. Yet I put an order in the the Satin Bronze Superspeed RS05RR (ET10), 275/35R19 tires (Tire rack, there will fit the ET10), and the TPMS to fit on a Dravit Gray on Fiona Red G80 Cx. Can’t want to be driving it! Hope this helps.

Thank you for your post as I'm going to order from the Canadian dealer. A question, I plan to get the 245/40R19 tires, Michelin ICE-Snow. What are your thoughts on the narrower tire? I honestly don't need the performance handling in the winter. Thanks.

Perhaps already discussed somewhere around here, but does anyone know why TireRack seems to have so few wheel and winter tire combo options for the G8x?

(When I looked a few days ago, they were also out of TPMS sensors, so just ongoing supply issues?)

Very helpful, thanks. Can you clarify which technician you spoke with and where?

I emailed sales@wheelsco.ca

Technician replied later that day. His name was Jeremy. He verified that the Blizzak LM-32 (2018 close out from Tire Rack) would fit.

Also got Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 winter tires (275/35R19) to go with these wheels. These tires are better suited for the amount of snow we get here.

Pictures below!
Nice rims! Colour really complements frozen gray.

Did you purchase them from a canadian retailer......I am in GTA area so curious where you sourced them from.

Sorry I was not referring to the European S version of the tire but instead using the s for purposes of expressing plural

I've been in the snow and ice several times now and the car delivers the same sense of unfailing grip that is does on dry pavement.
I'm running Vredstein Wintracs and they are performing well. They do feel a little squirmy on pavement if you push them much and I would imagine you could destroy them pretty quickly if you were so inclined.
The last three miles to our house climbs 700' with several switchbacks. When snow packed or icy, you can push the back end out just a bit with the throttle and the car will hold a beautiful gentle drift around the corner without the electro nannies intervention.
Absolutely awesome so far. Acceleration from on stop on slick surfaces is equally impressive, the car just finds grip, and goes leaving everything else behind.
This really gets to the guys in the heavy duty trucks and they go blazing past a mile and so later and you have a rabbit to follow.
Perfect!

Thanks! I really love how the rim color and the Frozen Dark Grey work together.

In response to your question, I got the rims from Goldwing Autocare in Ottawa. There are probably a few places in the GTA where you can get Avant Garde wheels. Should you feel inclined to travel to Ottawa to get your rims, Goldwing did a great job with advice and installation of the rims/wheels on my G80. I would definitely recommend them.

I need to hit the easy button here b/c my car is coming early.

Looking to grab the BMW set of Michelin Pilot Alpin 5's with black 829 wheels. I see some discussion in the thread but search isn't giving me any results.

Anyone pleased with this setup, or any issues? Thanks!

(I had sorta planned to go with performance all seasons b/c we don't get a ton of snow but this is easy.)

Don't buy those heavy cast wheels.

Buy this complete set from an awesome dude instead.

I have the matte 829 with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 on my G80 manual and they provide adequate traction in snow but ride quality is not great. But I think the tires are just amplifying my chief complaint with this car is that it's easily unsettled by minor imperfections especially mid corner and will often pogo over a series of continuous imperfections. It doesn't help that I have a Giulia QV which IMHO is one of the best well sorted chassis of all time. My guess is the G80 suffers from too much or just poorly tuned rebound damping. As far as all seasons as winter tires go I've tried this on several very capable cars and the only time it was acceptable was on my Evo X as Long as you were always on the throttle engaging the awd. If you forgot and coasted through a turn covered in snow the car would understeer like curbs and telephone polls were magnetic. On the other side of the coin hardcore winter tires from Blizzak allowed my E60 M5 to make it through one of the worst Chicago winter I can remember. I will say matte for me is the only way to fly. Trying to keep my summer polished black wheels clean is madness.

Yep! Couldn’t pass up that deal. Given how these cars chew tires I figured they’d wear out before they age out.

So far so good, but only have about 20 miles on them. Quieter than pirellis, ride is maybe a bit stiffer or atleast boomier on impacts, turn in is slower but still good for a winter tire.
