Ive had this squeaking issue since i got my car. Since then, i attempted to bed the brakes 2 separate times, ive since had my wheels and tires removed and fully detailed and ceramic coated so the rotors were looking essentially like new and they still squeak horribly. Its only in slower speeds with light brake pressure but it is truly the worst brake squealing ive ever heard and actually embarrassing. Im at a loss of what to do at this point....

Mine squeal terribly at low braking speeds as well. Embarrassingly loud.

Thought I was lucky but the squeal started the other day at 4k miles.

I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a pedestrian walking out without looking and since then it's squealing at low speed when coming to a stop. Time for new pads…

I spoke to the M certified tech at the local BMW dealership about the Carbotech brakes he installed on my M4 the day I picked it up. He concurred that BMW brakes are high dust and he consistently receives complaints concerning brake squeal. He highly recommended replacing the stock pads (as I have done) with low dust pads (such as the Carbotech) to alleviate the dust and eliminate the squeal. You can drive it like you stole it and that may help but if you can't do that then for less than $1000 installed you can all but eliminate the issues by replacing the stock pads.

Hutchinson04 - can you tell me exactly which carbotech pads you had installed? And since you got them installed, you havent had any issues with squealing at all? How many miles have you put on the new pads so far?

I may go this route once i put a bit more mileage on my stock pads or until i cannot take the squealing anymore (im pretty damn close...)

1521 pads

200+ miles not a squeak and minimal dust.

Check my previous post. No new pads needed, you just need to get on them even harder.

I went with Carbotech pads on my C7. They don't stop from super high speeds, as well as the stock Brembo pads. If you don't drive the car like you stole it, then you shouldn't have to worry much about it. I didn't notice that much of a difference in dusting on my C7, and I installed 1521 pads. To me, the dust just changed from Brembo orange, to like a silver or white.

V common especially when not up to temperature. Sintered pads do this and Porsches are the same. BMW have actually printed a leaflet here in the UK to explain as so many people have been asking

5k miles on my car and in the last 1k I've had the odd squeal (maybe 3 or 4 times) at low speeds while coasting to a stop

Nothing I've been bothered about and a decent hard-ish brake seems to stop it

You never actually want to come to a complete stop to avoid brake deposits/pad transfer. 70 to 20 MPH several times will be more effective than a single high speed braking run.

Remember to cool your brakes afterwards by driving at highway speeds for 15 minutes or so without using the brakes. Cooling the brakes quicker by pouring cold water on it or unevenly with a leaf blower isn't a good idea.

I was mostly just talking about the 150-0 spectrum, in general. 70-20 is pretty good. I just like to put a little more stress behind it. Allowing the weight of the car, to really pull the car down from speed. I can't suggest how people drive the car, I'm just saying that you need to be aggressive with them. I'd like to be a little more aggressive than 70-20.

3k miles on my car and the brakes squeal like a train on low speed stops. When they're warmed up they don't make noise. But really awkward on shorter drives. My previous F80s and E90 didn't do this. Has anyone noticed a difference in squeal setting the brakes to comfort vs sport?

My brakes (standard, non-CCB) started squealing shortly before break-in at about 1,000 miles. Went on a pretty aggressive drive after I got the car back where I stomped on the brakes a couple times and they stopped.

Ya'll lubed up the pins and back of the pads? Someone on youtube mentioned he did that and all the noise went away.

I retract. When they heat up, even at 17k on the clock, they still squeak sometimes. I wanna throw a wrench at them.
It is what it is I guess
