Cell Phone Mounts - What are you using?

We have wireless carplay. Why on earth would you guys want to mount your iphone to the dash? How many of you iphone dash mounters have an iphone belt clip too? lol.

Sorry. I know that's not nice. But I just dont get it gentlemen.

Agree with this 100%. What do you need to see on your phone that isn't on CarPlay. The messages are clunky but I'm not trying to text and drive. I put it away in the center console when I'm driving.

I'm on the Android auto side, but there are apps and things you can't do or do well from inside AA.

I use waze. When using CarPlay, the waze app shows text turn by turn while the CarPlay screen shows the map. It's very helpful when you can see your entire trip in text on the phone at the same time.

Three of my cars have wireless CarPlay and I have mounts in all of them.

I did this as I didn't like the plastic one posted earlier. Stuck a piece of film under it to not damage the display on removal. Use wireless AA but it's nice to have a place to easily get to your phone on 6MT. Also for JB4.

Mounts this one was the best by far. You mount it to the left of the screen. And the neck allows for perfect placement and doesn't block screen view. It's perfect.

reviving this thread to see if there are any other mounting options with wireless charging. I was thinking of using an add-a-circuit to tap into the fuze box and a 5v charger vs the 3v that are included.

also looking to keep all wiring hidden as much as possible.

I got my hands on a KUDA mount from Poland since they no longer export them to the US (the KUDAUSA site is all but dead). I don't like blocking vents, and I don't want to have to plug the phone in, so the KUDA mount combined with the Proclip MagicGrip Wireless Charging Phone Holder was perfect for me. The holder automatically grips the iPhone when it detects it on the device. It lights up blue when it's charging. I've since hid the wires a little better than when I took the pics.

Used a pro clip and then modified the Belkin mag safe mount to work with that. The Belkin was a vent louver style clip that I don't like how it prevents vent movement. This is then linked to a USB port that I added in the glove box.

tapped in to fuse that the power ports are connected to in trunk and between cup holders. add a fuse and it's switches with power so it sleeps when the car shuts down. 20A to the left of the blue square is where i'm drawing power.

Got this mount for my wife’s Cayenne S and planned to put it in my 2023 G80 when it arrived. Well it’s here now and the Renn mount location on your link has changed in the 2023 G80. Much prefer this solution over the others I’ve found, so hopefully they come up with a 2023+ solution.

Oh dang, good thing you said something. I was about to buy it for me incoming 2023. I guess I will hold off.
I’m thought it would be the same. I didn’t know BMW changed the surround for the physical buttons…thought there were just different ones in that place.

*edit - after looking at it, it looks like it should still work?

So Rennline tech got back to me and said that they haven’t tested on 2023 yet, but they believe it will fit. I ordered and they will refund if it doesn’t.

Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned already, but this is the best one I’ve found thus far. My requirements were:

1. Within arm's length so that it's easy to reach (I'm always using my phone some way or another)
2. Relatively high up so that I don't need to glance down
3. Doesn't block the vents (don't want my phone overheating while blasting the heat)
4. Attaches/charges wirelessly and securely
5. Easy to install

To meet these requirements, I used the base from https://a.co/d/05DzMAf and switched out the holder part for a MagSafe one and the result is fantastic
