equal length with stock axle back has a rattle on cold start, you'll need to upgrade the axle back to fix it.

Even with valves open? I haven't heard anyone else experience rattle with valves open. They've only reported it with valves closed.

I can’t speak for everyone else but I don’t have any rattle with the valves open. Same setup, stock everything with this midpipe

Interesting, do you have a video of your cold start with valves open? Here's what mine sounds like:

I don’t have a video, I can take one next time I start the car though. It’s not a good sounding cold start, but it doesn’t rattle like it does with the valves closed

Appreciate it, just want to hear what it’s supposed to sound like without the rattle.

Been holding off to purchase this vs the MAD single midpipe… think this rattle just about settles it. Sorry to those that are experiencing it!

It’s all good, after hearing sound clips of other midpipes I definitely would purchase this again even knowing about the cold start sound. As Mike has said as well, axel back would solve the issue if/when I want to upgrade

I just took a video of the cold start with valves open (will post soon), and I’m waiting on doing a cold start with them closed. Rewatching your video, I think we have the same sound. I still think the rattle is much more present with the valves closed, but that could possibly be due to the lowered volume of everything else?

Long story short, I think our cars sound the same

Mine sounds exactly the same. It’s not a good noise.

For those with an axle back like the AA, I understand the rattle goes away. Does an axle back significantly increase the volume throughout the range? The stock rear section is already plenty loud.

My AA EL mid pipe is paired with a Dahler exhaust valve controller. I have the stock down pipes and rear section. My next test will be to unplug the valve controller to see if I can bring the volume down a bit. It’s a bummer the cold start is so unpleasant because the exhaust note is so good everywhere else.

Something is def up, must be the way the exhaust is clamped or installed. I have an active EL midpipe, AA catback and dahler valve controller and now get the same crazy vibration on cold start. I’ll try and bring it to the shop this week to inspect.

Yes, but I haven’t ruled out installation errors. It could very well be hitting the brace or clamped to close to the heat shield. I’ll confirm and report back. Currently it sounds exactly like the videos shared previously, but louder.

Install error for sure.

I know from personally having this setup and absolutely no rattle, also we have sold hundreds of these, with no complaints.

Please double check the brace and midpipe clearance and update us.

I think that’s the rattle we are referring to. If we want to change the term to rasp that’s okay, but this definitely sounds like it rattles

I was trying to order from active the other week and it showed the EL Mid for G8x was out of stock. When I was trying to order it kept telling me that "my shipping address was avail". I figured was because they were out of stock.

I looked yesterday and saw they were "in-stock" so I tried ordering again and it still said the same thing. I even tried using my performance shop's address and the result was the same.

Anyone know why that may be? I've shipped things from active to my home address before..

I emailed active and I'm await a reply, but wanted to see if others had the same issue?
