Lol, or just learn how to drive manual/in general? I'm not quite sure what you are trying to convey.

Whatever they do I just hope they produce a car that can put its power down from a rolling start and not get thrown off by little bumps in the road with the DSC coming down like a hammer taking the throttle away leaving you with nothing, as for DCT in S3 the shifts might as well take 2 seconds as the shift jerk brings in the DSC slowing progress so you might as well use S1.

I use this car as my family driver. Often there are 3-4 people in side riding 30-60 miles each way. I wouldn't trade having 4 doors with a decent trunk until I either make a whole lot more money or my kiddo moves out, and she's 5 so I got a ways to go on both fronts.

Agreed. 4 doors is always better than 2. Also the F80 M3 looked way better than the M4. Easy decision.

Meh it'll be heavier, uglier, and less practical than the M3. Had a 435 GC can confirm.

I love the way the GC looks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, friend. The weight means nothing to me. It will never see the track. I love the sleek sloping roof line.

It's more of an unsightly hump to me. I got the GC because I thought it'd be a stylish alternative to the ubiquitous 335 but now I don't think the price difference and weight penalty is worth it.

The S5 Sportback does a nice job with design and flow. Again, weight for me means nothing because it will never see the track.

You can feel an added couple hundred pounds in normal driving. Acceleration, braking, turns, overall responsiveness, tire wear, gas mileage. All is negatively affected by added weight.

When you're tearing up the back roads, yes. Under normal conditions of going to work in traffic, the gym, and the grocery store and yoga studios(which is where 98% of these cars live) you'd be hard pressed to feel any kind of weight penalty.

This train of thought leads to the.... Why get an m3/m4 at all conclusion then.

Might as we get a 340/440i or a Merc amg. Or even a 330i. You can't tell in the 98% driving case anyway

Status quo. Nobody can get to the limits of modern day cars anyway on the street.

Exactly. The other 98% don't even know forums exist and really don't care. They'd rather just drive the car. Hence why the manual transmission is dead in the 3 series. The members of this forum make up a VERY small group of owners. The majority of people really aren't enthusiasts. My own sister is one of those people. She couldn't care less about sound, feel, and any of other enthusiast mumbo jumbo. She barely washes the thing. Maybe once every six to eight months if that.

That's what the 98% of drivers are going to do. Just drive it and not give two hooey's.

Does anyone worry that the next M3/M4 will be a bigger car (more length) plus feel more like a luxury grand tourer than a sports car?

Nope. The bigger the better for me. If the M5 came with 6MT I'd get that one.

If you want small, M4 seems like better fit. Or M2. Or 911. I hope they go big!

More bigger = More weight = More worse driving

Totally against this...and actually refuse to think about getting another M3 until they reduce the size back to E46 dimensions (or hell, E36)

Love my M2
