Pirelli p-zero vs PS4s

Hi all,

My 6MT can’t grip the road when I floor it in 1st or 2nd gear. I can’t tell if it’s the crappy roads or the tires.

If I get the “gold standard” Michelin PS4s, will I notice an improvement?

Or did I just buy a 100k car I can’t feel the full power of?

Sorry I’m sure this question has been asked before.

Thanks so much

Pretty sure every 500hp rwd car can't grip in first gear, that's just a fact of life. You can always opt for wider and stickier tires.
Don't bother with ps4s or pzero if you want grip in the back, there's much stickier tires out there.
Did you turn traction off?

It’s not the roads , it’s those garbage Pirellis.
Grab the PS4’s and enjoy the difference.

If your tires aren't properly warmed up, and on a sub-optimally paved road, even the PS4S are going to spin on 1st. Launch Control even on AWD without proper prep is going to make you spin.

I feel like I get better launches regulating it myself without using LC

On the flip side, imagine buying a high performance car that can’t even break traction by flooring it in first gear…

Its probably your cold weather on summer tires, RWD only and how you slip your clutch thats causing it. I highly doubt moving to Ps4's is going to answer your problem.

Did you warm up the tires? What is the temperature on that day? What are the type pressure? So many reasons tires are not operate in the top condition.

It is the driver issues, not the tires issues

Get the Michelins and get the OEM star tire. The only time I suffer from lack of grip is if the tires are wet and/or cold. You do have to feather the throttle a little but not much even in sport+ & MDM.

If you are in MDM or anything other than TC completly off then you have no way to properly compare the actual grip provided by the tire itself vs any other tire.

I'm just about to to replace my original pirellis after 14k miles. They are toast, but they were honestly not that bad as people make them out to be. Probably going to try the ps4 star in stock size just to have that experience, but I'm sure I'll go for cup2 if not nitto NT01s after the ps4s are done. I'd go straight for the NT01 but I'm nervous about fitting the 315/30 on the rears. It think it should work, but...

MDM allows for some straight line slip. I have had both the pirellis and the Michelins in the G80 platform. When hot the pirellis spin more and always have for me. And I wear the rears out within 6k miles on all my sports cars with p zeros over the years. Whoops!

My car has 100% traction on stock PS4S tires in 2nd. Under no circumstances will it spin the tires in the dry from a roll.

It was probably 50F max. and yes tires were as warm as they could get. The roads here in the winter have sand for the snow and it’s 99% gone usually, but even then there’s always some sand I hear hitting the wheel wells. So that’s why I wondered if it’s just me and my roads or something everyone else experiences.

Of course your tires will struggle for traction in sandy, cold environments.

Get the tires up to 90-100F+, avoid sand and report back to us.

I figured but I didn’t want to wait months before finding out.

I got the information I needed thanks!

And I’m glad everyone had fun making fun of me.
