Sorry for my impatience, but I wanted to ask if you have been able to get anything here yet? I will have to decide in the next few days how I want to powder coat my 826Ms and it would of course be very helpful if I could get an impression of other examples.

I found a reputable detail shop in my area that ceramic coats wheels for $50 a wheel (full wheel incuding barrel). I think I’m going to have them do that for my 826Ms right after I take delivery of my car. That should make them much easier to clean going forward.

I dropped my 826M off at the shop yesterday. It was very difficult to decide which silver shade to choose and with which finish (gloss, satin, matte). They will first depaint them, so I have a few days until the final decision. If anyone finds any photos, that would be very helpful. |

It's really hard to decide when you don't have a chance to see real wheels in a certain color and finish (at least on pictures). Besides color and finish I thought about a two tone solution, with grey inner parts of the wheel and a brushed-like finish on the outside. A little bit like the bi-color 826M, but with brighter colors. That would be much more expensive though and since I'm not sure if that would even look better, I decided to go with a single color solution. And the challenge is that I have Skyscraper Gray. The goal is to have the color of the wheels be lighter than the color of the car, to have the contrast I want here. But the question is how the 826M will look in a very bright silver shade and so I'm considering a color in between (Skyscraper Gray is pretty bright though, so there's not that much wiggle room there). 826Ms finished in Bengal Silver. Got these pics from a friend. I'm not sure who the owner is or where the pictures originally came from, but figured the thread could use these.

The silver definitely looks better with the FBG color.

I was able to postpone my final decision on the powdercoat color for my 826M wheels a bit, but tomorrow I definitely have to decide. Both Bengal Silver and Porsche Silver look good. And basically it was clear to me that I would go with a matte/satin finish, but wonder how it would look like with a bit more gloss finish. That can look really good depending on the wheel design and exterior color of the car.
Another potentially attractive variant could be a bi-color style, with a lighter gray inside and silver on the outside surface (sort of a lighter version of the bi-color rims). In any case I can't go too dark, otherwise it would lack contrast to the Skyscraper Gray of the car. |
