Mismatch Tires F/R

I know it's not ideal but can I run PS4S on the front and Cup2 on the back? Currently I'm running PS4S 285/295 on 20 inch HRE setup. My rear tires don't have much left and I want to go bigger tires for the next one(305/30/20). Yes, my car is RWD For the better traction, does 305 Cup2 tires perform much better or should I stick with 4S?

I wouldn't say they're that much better but I don't have great experience with the PS4. The 305 PSC2s are MO spec from the black series and 240 treadwear which is not much different from the PS4 at 300 treadwear. I too was chasing traction with RWD 600whp+ and was not impressed with the 305 PSC2 either in a straight line or on track. I now have 295 Cup2r which are 140 treadwear and much happier. With that said, if this is your daily or primarily a street car I'd stick with the PS4.

Thanks for your input. This is not my daily and I drive it once a week or so with 2~3 track days a year.

I've done it before, albeit on a different car. The Cup2s are NOT the death trap in rain some people claim, at least not while they are relatively fresh. Just be very judicious with your inputs and just pull over in a downpour. That said, it's not ideal and you will have some wonky wet weather behavior but absolutely doable on a short-term basis--especially if you can avoid rain and cold weather.

But why not just replace all four at the same time and make your life a little easier? Is it a money issue? Honestly, you might be on your second set of Cup2s before you wear out your original PS4S. The 180TW ones I had were sticky when warm but man, they did not last long at all.
