Wheel rash

Well there is a first time for everything and this is my first wheel rash since I turned 16. Luckily, it’s my brand new car ha. Anyways, it’s a pretty minor curb rash but when I called the one wheel repair facility he said with black gloss wheels the best way to match it is to strip it down then powder coat the whole wheel again. He said he could just repair it but it might not match with the clear coat. Couple of other places did not suggest that route. What your opinion guys.

I would think this is easier to touch up than the diamond faced wheels .
Talk to other repair guys, I wouldn’t go with someone who isn’t comfortable with his own method.

I’ve used this guy in the past and he was good. I spoke to several other shops and they didn’t seem to think that powder coated was necessary.

Yeah I'd talk to other wheel repair folks. I can't imagine gloss black would be THAT challenging. I had a repair done on a 437M wheel years ago that was unnoticeable and those wheels had a tricky two tone paint job. Gloss black is gloss black, it should be easy to match at least to the point where it's indistinguishable.

Black is the easiest wheel color to repair by a mile. Even a generic jet black touch up pen will match that wheel perfectly. That's an easy fix for any tire repair guy. You'll never notice. Don't go back to that guy.

Has anyone had any luck getting any repairs done on the 829M wheels in matte black?
