500 miles in. Hands down the most fun car I've owned. A distant second would be the 2003 WRX I bought right out of college.

Much more fun than my 6MT F80. My 991/911 was PDK; I don't know whether the G80 manual would have eclipsed a 991 Manual.

It has a smoother ride and yet handles better than the F80. I enjoy the torque and power curves (so far up to 5000 rpm) of the S58 more than the brutal instant-on torque of the S55.

The front wheels don't seem to tram line as much as the F80.

The shifter seems a bit more vague and the clutch petal travel a bit long but I'm so happy BMW made a manual I won't complain.

The car seems to beg to be driven fast and feels very rewarding to drive in a spirited way.

I initially hated the photos of the grilles. The car is not particularly photogenic. In person I love it.

The G80 6MT really comes alive after 5k rpm. After break-in service, you're really gonna appreciate how well-planted and quick the car really is.

Enjoy the new ride!

100% agree with this. I enjoyed the 6MT before break in but love it now. I've really had to rethink how long I'm holding the gears for. 3rd gear only red lines over 100mph, so you just have this massive range of power which I was only partially aware of before break in

From my experience with the previous models (E92 and F80), the 2nd gear were always very clunky and difficult to get right. Would you say it's also the case for the G8x?

There was another thread that I interpreted as suggesting that 1-2 is particularly difficult in the G80. I've driven mostly manual transmission cars for 25 years. I have never NOT found 1-2 a bit awkward.

It's definitely awkward. I thought it was just me at first and being rusty with a manual. Clutch stop makes a big difference though, and I'm used to it now

A other thing I was just reminded of - the G80 feels geared short compared to the F80. I find myself thinking I'm in a gear lower than I am. Maybe it is just the contrast with the F80 which allowed me to stay in higher gears at lower rpm. But I've found myself a few times in 6th at cruising speed thinking I was in 5th.
