Just had some one pull up next to me and ask if I was in a Tesla. No idea why just kind of perplexed me a bit.

Never before in any old car did I get attention, but in this I get loads even though I got black and thought it would stay under the radar - kind of wierd especially form non car enthusiasts.

I have no idea why some one would think its a tesla its pretty much kind of the opposite - but just my chuckle for the day.

On a positive note 120 miles and break in service Friday - so far all my miles have been pointless and me just enjoying / getting to know the car and I freaking love it!!

Everything I expected it to be (didnt expect it to be a tesla!) And more!

I would have guessed people would think Toyota. From the back it looks like one. Not a Tesla. LOL

99% of people have no idea about cars. Nearly every "fast looking" car I've owned had at least one person ask if it was a Ferrari. I had someone ask me if my Aston Martin was a Corvette and then when I told them it was an Aston, they were disappointed and said "you should have bought a Corvette."

It's the American-centric perspective wherein people think the corvette is the pinnacle of American performance (and they're not wrong) and thus performance in general. The problem is that American performance doesn't stack up with European.

I love this country, I have voted in every election since I turned 18 (state and local) but I feel privileged that I have the financial means to buy a German car lol.

A modern Corvette is definitely faster around a track than a DB9. Wasn't really the point though.

I'm all good with the car. Someone posted a thread next to some Toyota and it looked very similar.( From the back ) I can't find it to repost. I'm sticking with my F82 for now. Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the new one but looks are so individual to each there own. I like the look of My GTR. Most people don't and it's all good. They don't own it, have to live with it I do. My biggest gripe is the stance. Not the grill. Which can be fixed very easily. Just surprised how it came from BMW. I just like poking the BMW nut-swingers who think these cars are the BEST of everything. Many are in this category. That's what makes all this shit fun and interesting. If everyone was in here blowing each other with the same opinion, that would be the Ferrari forums. LOL.

I never kept a car for more than 3 years until my GTR. I almost bought another M3 over that back in 2010, so glad I did not. It is a super fun street car. I'm going on 6-7 years with it being built and have had Zero issues. Changed turbos once and that was my choice for faster spool. I really hope the AWD M's are heading to big builds sooner than later. I may jump in to one down the road. Like I said befeore, If you have never driven in a 1000 HP AWD car, find one and try it! IMHO they were deliberately "low-key trolling" you and trying to see how you'd react. Sounds like you got a laugh out of it, so no harm done.

The psychology of new car ownership probably favors a less friendly reaction, on average. The trolling party in this case was likely hoping to elicit some anger or at least some type of indication that you were offended. Instead, you just thought they were kind of stupid.

This person is a friend of a friend and I am positive he was 100% serious. He was literally wearing cutoff jean shorts and a white t-shirt, as per the joke above you. He owns a Fiero, though, so all was forgiven.

its got a trunk and taillights so it looks exactly like a toyota Those negative 'it looks just like this car' posts get me every time because it never looks anything like them haha I can see not liking the design but it is certainly unique.
