OP, If it wasn't for work, I'd drive you up there, but you'd have to slum it in a F90 comp, lol.
I have the car bug pretty bad as well, but I have not taken the time to count. Seems like it may be an eye opening number at this point. I'm in Raleigh just over the line from Cary. I hope to see that G8x soon. Congrats. |

buying a new car sight unseen is no big deal
1/2 the cars I buy are sight unseen weird coincidence , I was in Asheville last week for couple of days on the way to Tail of the dragon from Charlotte nice little town and I strongly recommend for a short visit . Clean town and great food I was surprised to learn that they had BMW/Audi/ and Porsche dealers in town and I visited the Porsche dealer to look at a cayman GTS that sold as I arrived congrats and you will love the M4 |

I am still trying to process the 60 cars owned part. I think of myself as having had a crazy number of cars and I can only get to 21, and that counts the Beetle my wife had when we got married. (I was added to the title.) There was also a motorcycle, but that wasn't counted.
After a recount, I was able to get to 22. Last edited by rak299; 05-12-2021 at 12:37 PM.. |

Of course, WHEN you got your first car can futz the numbers a bit. I got my first car in June of 1987, so roughly a car every 2 years. If someone started buying cars in 1957, that would add some context. |

What happened was, basically, when I was around 24 or so, I bought a car that turned out to be less than reliable. I had not yet sold the previous car, so I just kept it until I got the other one debugged, and then the concept of a "spare car" kind of got lodged into my brain. I actually kept the spare longer than the lemon. Well, then I started making some decent money. And I wanted an M5. And I found one (E28) and bought it, when I still had a DD E36 M3. Then I kind of fell into a deal on an old 633csi. And I had a track car, too. At one point I think I had seven cars at once. No, I'm not Rob Siegel, LOL. My cars are newer and depreciate more, and I don't do rust. So that's what happened - multiple car ownership, with an average of about 13 months ownership of any given car. More recently, last year, I bought an old Jaguar XKR with the idea that I would drive it until I got tired of it or whatever, and then flip it on Bring A Trailer. Well, it turns out that I didn't like it right off the bat (long story) and so I sold it within 2 months. That tends to bring down the averages.
