What's your wife or girlfriend think of the G8x?

Well, after I put down the deposit over the weekend, my wife was like "really, you really decided on the M3?" her point was I am too "old" for the car (I am 48 but look early 30's ) this car is for "rich young kid, and you're an "old fart, what are you trying to proof?"... I tried to justify with the technology/mechanic and driving experience of the car but she still think I am wasting my money and should keep driving my Range Rover Sport or get something more "mature"/"classy" (note she is 18 years younger than me)
We ended the conversation with hey it's my money and my car, I do what I want and buy what I like...

My wife thinks it's funky looking but likes our M340i and X3M so she's cool with it. She does NOT like my preferred portimao blue color choice so we'll see how that plays out. I'm not ordering until end of year.

OP if your wife thinks you should drive an old man car, I really think a gray exterior with Tartufo interior would settle her down. It looks fantastic and is more "mature".

I'll never forget this story...

I was in south beach Florida vacationing. Had a VW Passat rental.

I pull into a parking lot and see perhaps a mid or late 2000 Porsche 911 turbo. Mint; and what was obviously an aftermarket exhaust.

I see this much older surfer looking dude I kid you not walking with a cane towards the car.

I'm like no way!!!

Takes some time but he gets in and fires that thing up!!!!

Holy crap! Never to old for a sports car!!!

My wife loved it at first view. Came back the next day with the car seat for our newborn and it fit perfectly. She had plenty of room in the front seat with the rear facing seat behind her. Went for a test drive and she loved it even more:

- Loved the seats (ventilated)
- Loved that it is much smoother in comfort mode than my F87
- Loved how quiet the cabin is at 80mph
- Loved the HUD
- Loved that it's not 80-90dB in the cabin and 109dB on cold start like my F87
- Loved that the rear door openings are very practical and that we don't have to Tetris a car seat and the dog

As soon as we saw the Fiona red interior on an M8 that on the showroom floor after the test drive we signed the papers.

"Her" car is a 2018 Macan, and I have a funny feeling she's going to want to drive the M3 more now.

my wife's biggest things are comfort and quiet which I think the G80 can do. we had a G05 X5 50i fully loaded that she liked a lot but I wanted something more fun normally she doesn't like sedans but hey she's okay with you this one.

I always pick out great cars for us, and generally if family are buying a car they ask me for a recommendation, so my wife trusted that the M3 was the "right" car. She agreed to let me get the 6MT, even though she doesn't drive stick, so that was an awesome bonus.

She definitely rolls her eyes a bit at some of the stuff, like when I was telling her how excited I was for the break-in service so I could unlock launch control, but she indulges me because she sees how happy the car makes me, and I still go and fill her car up for her and organize everything for it

I’m similar in age to the OP both by years and looks (lol). Ive got one foot firmly planted in the mature (X5 and Volvo XC90 T8) and younger (991 4S) camps. Was considering the new AMG C63 but am a little gun shy of the 4 cylinder hybrid (our Volvo has one of those) and it no longer comes in a wagon in our market, which is what I really want. Also looked at the M5 (test drove and blisteringly fast but couldn’t ‘feel’ the speed, AMG E63 same thing). Thought about the RS5 for a weekend but it’s getting long in the tooth. Really wanted an RS6 Avant but those are like unicorns in Canada and the one I wanted would take 10-12 months (& costs far more than the M3). Which is a long way of saying, the M3C is the car both my wife and I agree on...I’m pretty sure she’ll drive it more than me. She likes the looks and it reminds her of one of our past favs, E46.

We've had E46, E92, F80, and soon a G80 M3. She's loved every single one.

Well, my SO calls himself our cat's mother, but he's still not really a wife. So not sure I should answer this thread. However, he did not enjoy riding in my M2C at all, but loved the color.

For the M3, he thinks I'm an idiot for getting a manual in the city (previously I was an idiot for having a 2-door car...so...) but loves IOMG and is much happier riding in it. Much happier with the seats and the overall passenger-comfort aspects of the car. He does not miss the Akrapovic exhaust I had on my M2C at all.

Life with a partner who isn't a car person is always a bit silly.

My wife isn't really into cars at all but has pretty much always deferred to the response of "it's your car, you get what you want and will be happy with". There has only been one car that I've owned that she absolutely hated and that was the Mercedes C400. She thought it was too small (we had just had our first kid) and it did have a variety of issues which ultimately led me to getting rid of it within 6 months.

While she isn't necessarily happy that I'm buying a brand new car again (I don't keep cars more than a few years), she gets my desire for this one. She's even excited about the color I've chosen this time around.

My wife is also a bit meh on the M3. It's not mature enough or something. She thinks I should get a Porsche instead. I don't get it but I guess I shouldn't argue. Nice wife.

My Girlfriend who is 33 (I am 38) told me that If I like it, I can buy whatever i want, but she would prefer a 911 instead an M3 comp.

Off course I've optioned the M3comp Xdrive....the Porsche will follow in the right time along, once I'll have a bigger garage.

When I showed my wife the first pics of the new grille on the M3, she said its just aggressive, not ugly- what's the fuss about? And she loved the IOMG. Her car is a Lexus with the massive waterfall grille so I had no worries there anyway. She liked it even better when I discovered the Tartufo interior- she did have reservations with the orange. So win-win.
