Ok, are you sure you aren’t looking at the base car’s weight? You have to look at the competition model since there is no AWD to be had for the base/MT car.

The comp car show 3890 lbs for the M3 when I check bmwusa.

Oops, you're right. I was looking at the non-comp. Thanks.

Np, that was actually quite cool since the difference is now less than the 110 they mentioned in the explained video. 100 or 99 lbs instead of 110, we’ll forgive that inaccuracy

Thanks, that makes sense. I will give my SA here in the UK a call in the morning and see if I can secure an early allocation.

Will let you all know what he says.

Is there anything I missed with the M?

Also, Audi the competitor hasn't been trying to differentiate (on a marketing level) the mechanical AWD found with FM longitudinal engine layout cars, from the electronic AWD with transverse engines. Audi calls both Quattro, despite of essential differences.
By "it" I was actually referring to Audi's Quattro as being consistently named by random drivers as what they believe the benchmark 4WD system on the market is; not to M xDrive vs regular xDrive (I've since edited my post to eliminate the potential ambiguity). I'm probably unaware of most subtleties of M xDrive myself and have just assumed here that its 2WD/4WD switchable drive alone already makes it special enough for BMW that they won't put the regular xDrive badge on their M cars.

And yes, I was actually going to name Audi as a prime example of how to use a well-established brand (i.e. Quattro) for selling vastly different technical solutions, then realized BMW themselves are already using the xDrive brand for quite different systems technically and philosophically... But why then the badge omissions on the M models equipped with M xDrive? Might it be one of the other potential reasons I've mentioned?

Well there is nothing to compare it to as M5/M8 and X3M/X4M are all AWD only.

Compared to Porsche $4,000 is cheap

as for the color I am guessing Frozen Port on the blue. I know the blue looks glossy but when has BMW ever launched something like this with an individual color shown?
HDR overload on all the pics, hate that.

hard to say but it won't change how the car looks, just add $4100 to the normal build.

you can technically still order one, I did back in Feb/March and put a deposit down. my build is slotted for August right now since I have their very first G80 AWD.

Mexico, Santorini, Misano - all pretty similar rich medium blue colors that pop out of the screen. Edit:we could add snareman’s Enzian too.

It’s strange that BMW is now promoting Individual colors in press releases for new vehicles. A step too far? I mean, nothing wrong with promoting Individual, but it’s confusing in this context, especially since they don’t ever mention the name of the color, nor the Individual program. And then there’s the list of standard available colors, all of which this car isn’t.
I was going to say... What about ENZIAN????

I'm calling it Enzian for now as it's the closest thing I've seen to the car I'm getting. But yea, all of those blues are in the same ballpark and who knows with the photo editing what it actually looks like in person.

EDIT: I see now it's Mexico. I'm still putting it on my computer as a background though and telling myself it's Enzian.

And I agree - kind of odd that they promote all of these individual colors without actually promoting them. You'd think they could advertise the program in all of these videos they've had and in things like this by saying "and here's the new AWD M4 in stunning X blue that can be had via the BMW Individual Program." Seems like a missed marketing opportunity. Maybe it is on that post where they say it's Mexico, but they make no mention of it in any of the videos they have done where they show all of those other colors.

My individual order just got approved recently and BMW told the dealership that it now bumps me to a July or August build as a 2022 model when I previously had an allocation for a 2021 model, so I would agree with this statement.

Shanghai International Auto Expo (one of the largest of its kind in the world) is being held from today throughout this week. To my knowledge it's going to be the world premier (public and physical) of the Xdrive or the M3/M4 altogether.

Today and tomorrow will be the media day. And I'll go to the show on Wednesday. And bring back worthy information (special interior and sport seat compatibility) and pictures if any.

From the info I got from past few hours, the official MSRP in my market which was just announced has been lowered than BMW preliminary release 3 months ago.

I could never buy the m3/4 with that front grille... just can't do it. I went to an F90, it's more $, but well worth it.
