Best exhaust option

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm in the market, but having trouble finding good info to help me decide. What does this community think is the best front, mid, rear section and why?

Its all subjective, start by looking through the mid-pipe thread and see if you like the sound those mods https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1817072 if you want more there's plenty of full exhaust threads to look through.

The exhaust sound is subjective.

I have the Active Autowerke axle back with their X-pipe (straight), and I love it.

I also heard the Active Autowerke axle back with the AA single midpipe, and it sounds excellent, in my opinion as well.

Other popular options are REMUS, Valvetronic, and Akrapovic.

I suggest you check the different setups online, pick the one you like the most then contact your favorite vendor for a deal

Downpipes all do the same thing/are the same shape. Just go with one that has a good reputation of fitting well.. MAD for example which is inexpensive

As long as you're happy and your car runs good there should be no regrets

Hey that's a great perspective from a vendor! Makes me want to do business with you. Might have to switch products out of pure principle. Can't say I'm happy yet. While that gets sorted I was just looking for some open conversation, you know, free speech and whatnot.

Well if you want my thoughts I would just mess with the mid and downpipe and stick with the stock rear since a rear muffler won't really provide any stunning hp gains. However if you hate the way the rear hangs I could see why you would want one.

Sound is subjective like someone else mentioned so maybe you could give us a little indication of what you are actually looking for tone wise and loudness over a factory setup..

I would like my car to sound like an e30 with hartge muffler lol. Yes I'm that old and I know not possible with turbos.

Yeah, I already have the AA single midpide (thanks Mike at X-PH) and I'm very happy with it. And no intent to swap the rear section because I want to retain the ability to keep the car fairly quiet with valves closed. So you know what that leaves. I ordered that something, but that something wasn't what I ordered. It's a whole thing, but you'd never know because open discussion about such things is apparently forbidden

This is my first post here, and I'm new to BMW's. What's the issue with R44?

I'm not entirely sure. But there were 4 or 5 threads on here with R44 in the title and all of them got deleted a couple of days ago (one was resurrected).

I recently ordered a set of their catted downpipes and recently received. They seem like a quality product and they were delivered within the promised timeframe. I haven't had them installed yet though.

They're all metal will 300 cell cats. And they have heat shielding on the entire outside, which I wasn't expecting. I had posted a pic in a thread that was deleted, so here they are again:

Really like the way the TFL looks. Is this install with the resonated mid-pipe?

In my opinion the 3 best exhausts are akrapovic, eisenmann black carbon race, and m performance with mid pipe. These aren't cheap but after reading about the horror stories and bad customer service from some of these new exhaust places I'm not spending $4-5,000 there to have the pipes rust or not fit and then get poor customer support. With these 3 brands they are huge and I doubt you will have issues.
