Can someone explain the drive logic settings?

I have my m1 and m2 set to 2/3 and 3/3 (dashes on the dashboard) on the drivelogic but I recently over heard someone talking about s1/s2/s3 modes as opposed to d1/d2/d3 like I have been using

Are the s modes for sequential? And I thought the drivelogic just effected the point at which the car shifts...why would any setting be needed in sequential?

D is auto and S is 'manual' with the paddle or gear leaver. S1/2/3 is the speed of the shifts. S3 is the fastest, S1 the slowest.

I've been setting up my M1 as manual with a lot of the sport plus settings and M2 as auto with a little more of the comfort

Well, 1/2/3!is not speed of shifts, rather how high in the revs holds on to a gear before upshifting

Is that just in D though right? In S your control if how high it revs before it shifts so the s1/s2/s3 feels like it's the quickness of the gear change.
